I found this quilt anything but easy to do. The curves were the easy part. I found putting the clams together to be challenging. I was so glad when I actually finished it. It was a struggle and I’ve been sewing quilts for years. Needless to say, this one will not be repeated.

The first thing I do when I wake up on Friday mornings in the UK is watch Jenny’s new tutorial - I love it! Sad to say this morning though that I have no idea how to sew this together. Please don’t rush these tutorials as they really are my key source of both instruction and inspiration. If you could it would be great to show the curve sewing so we can see what you did and how we could do this as I’m feeling a bit flat and frustrated this morning with confusion 🥺

So, a clamshell quilt is on my list of quilts to make. And I will admit, at the beginning of this tutorial I was thinking this is just extra work and I'd rather just sew together whole clamshells. But now, after watching the whole thing, I'm reconsidering my previous idea. If nothing else, I love learning new tricks and strategies rather than just only one way. You never know what will click with one person and not another. :)

I made a drunkards path a couple of month’s ago. Thank you for showing this, I made mine without pins too, it is really important not to stretch the material and to keep that last bit straight. A shame you didn’t show us your sewing before you ironed it. I’m sure it would have helped people. Also to nest the seams of the units you can press in either direction. The unit let’s you press either way on the curve. Thank you again and I hope your wonderful business and genuine love of all quilters prospers.

I have seen a curved log cabin block where a solid was used on the “skinny” side and colours used on the big side, and then a curve is cut and a solid curved piece is used on the colour so when 4 blocks line that go together they make like a curved 4point star. Would your tool do that on the edges, do you think?

I've decide to attempt this as my first quilt. I'm curious you couldn't sew each clam together first (the straight seams), then sew all the curves. I would think sewing the 4 pieces of each clam first would ensure they match up nice.
