Great video! Have you ever done one on the speed adjustment for uphill/downhill/fringe putts? For example, a putt in a 10 stimp green that is 20 feet long with a 3 inch rise would be equal to a flat 25 foot putt (made up number). Or a flat 30 footer that goes through 1 foot of fringe is equal to a flat 32 footer (made up number).

I haven't...but that is a brilliant idea. I'll give you credit when I put out the video on this idea. Some people will be able to relate to this and others won't grasp the concept...different people process different ways

@@misteroneputt Thanks! I think it would benefit a lot of people. I’ve heard for a 10 stimp that for every inch of rise (or fall), it equals one extra foot of distance. But, who knows how accurate that is. Also, fringe putts would be interesting bc a putt through 1 foot of fringe is different than through 4 feet of fringe.

I have questions some say disadvantage with center shafts are bcs how the face torques when it’s not hit in the center but isn’t shaft being center balanced out the weight distribution on the face in half so when it’s hit on the toe or heel it would torque less than traditional putter? For example seemore and lab putters are face balanced at impact wouldn’t it encourage more square hit?
@misteroneputt
@misteroneputt 2 жыл бұрын
Seemore putters are face balanced at impact. LAB and Honu putters are torque balanced so that they do not twist or torque off line during the stroke--in other words the putter face stays square to your target line. With regards to the putter face torqueing when its not hit in the center...yes that is true of most any putter...although I have video in both my Honu and LAB putter reviews that show the face really not twisting and both are center shafted. However, the ball is in contact with the putter face for such a short period of time that the putter face twisting when you hit it on the heel or toe does not matter...the ball is already gone...the big impact of heel or toe strikes is inconsistent distance. The important thing is not torque caused by mishits but preventing torque prior to the strike, which is why the Honu and LAB putters are so revolutionary.
@smartwater598
@smartwater598 2 жыл бұрын
@@misteroneputt oh so off center hits doesn’t actually makes the face torque? Just distance. Final question, is seemore face balanced at impact same as lab putters lie angle balanced? Does it do the same effects? Because seemore also automatically squares up at angle.Thanks for reply your tips are so good
@misteroneputt

@@smartwater598 Off center hits do twist the face of most putters...but that doesn't affect line because the ball is gone by the time the face twists...does affect speed though. Seemore claims to be face balanced at impact...that is not the same as L.A.B. or Honu being torque balanced and Honu being additionally mass balanced. I have a Seemore and really like it...I find that it is not the same as the L.A.B. or Honu and I like them better. In my L.A,B. Directed force review and the Honu review, I put my Seemore in a device that allows the putter head to spin freely...the Seemore twisted and torqued all over the place and the Honu and LAB both stayed square before during and after impact. Thank you for the compliments

@@misteroneputt so what I’m curious about is which style putters would be more likely to twist/torque on off center hits in theory? Center shaft or traditional plumber neck? Thanks haha sorry for many questions

@@smartwater598 I'm not an engineer, but in my experience center shafted putters torque less on off center hits...that may have more to do with how they are balanced than with the shaft location.

While I agree with you on the concept that the hole is made smaller by excess spped, it seems to me that an offset could be a smaller break. A steep uphill putt will have most of it's beak in the last foot or so. By putting two feet past the hole, a putt that is a cup outside at a slower speed might be inside the hole. If I have a straight putt of six feet on level ground, I might be able to hit the putt anywhere from six to nine feet and have it go in. If I had that level six putter witha a one foot break,wouldn't I have only a few inches of margin for error? If I could increase that margin of error by hitting the ball harder and reducing the break by more than the speed decreases the size of the hole, wouldn't that be a good thing? Sorenstam was often putting four or five feet past the hole, and DeChambeau seems to think leaving the pin in lets him hit it harder. Aren't the pros reducing break by hitting it harder, and making more putts? But they are better at that three foot csecond putt than we are! Finally it srikes me there are three main reads for any putt. The lag read, the normal read, and the "match play" read where the scond putt doesn't matter. I see so many players in match play blast a putt for a half without adjusting the read. Not only do they make the hole smaller, but they don't compensate for that by changing the angle at which the ball approaches the hole.

I agree with you in theory that certainly charging putts into the hole reduces break and thus margin for error. And the pros are good at that. However, they practice putting 2 hours a day and rarely miss line. The typical amateur typically doesn’t hit line and the extra speed gives them very little room to miss and even worse… hitting more peace often results in missing the line for amateurs. I think there are some parts that you should certainly charge into the hole at a fast speed and I also believe it’s a comfort confidence and skill thing for most golfers. My concept is there are some parts where you want to die it into the hole some parts you want to hit in the middle speed or make speed and some parts you do want to charge and be aggressive. By the way, DeChambeau hitting it hard against the stick may not be all that scientific. The research says that on a 6 foot flat pot you can hit it hard enough to go 6 feet and 7 inches past the hole and it will go in if the flag is out but if the flag is in, you can only hit it hard enough to go about 3 1/2 feet past the hole and it will bounce off the flag and go out of the hole and that is assuming a dead center of the stick hit. If you hit slightly to one side or the other of the flagstick you have to be going slower or it will bounce off and out. Again that’s a personal preference. For a long time I put a stick and I’ve recently gone back to flagstick out on most Putts. Maybe I should do a video on that on that.
