In this video, I show you to make a track saw for Makita's circular saw. Traditionally this guide rail I made from 12mm ply, And 32mm * 25 mm Aluminium channel. Simple DIY project.

I cut a kitchen cutting board, the white slick one and mounted it to the bottom of the saw. Makes it slide easy and no marks.

That’s great except most sheets are 8’x4’ or 2400x1200 so you need to actually join the base for this to allow for that length plus saw start and finish. Meaning you need to cut 2 pieces to make the base long enough.

All I do is clamp a straight edge 1.5 inches from where I want to cut and hold the saw to it. Simple

This is great for homeowners and weekend warriors , but if you do this for a living, you buy a good track saw, there's no substitute for accuracy and speed of operation

why go to all that trouble. If he knows the motor side to blade is 100 mm cut and the non motor side is 40mm as my saw is you just clamp the bit od flat bar he had at the beginning to the board?????????? he did it to get the bit of wood in the first place.....OMG

This is a guess, but probably so he could fit the second side piece on tight against it and screw it down, and when we tool off the bits of tape, the rewound be just enough space for the saw to slide smoothly but not so much that it had room to wiggle side to side.

this tool is not making cutting process simple. its again making complicated steps. the support for the cut piece is must in order to avoid the cut piece falling down.
