@@theviolenceenjoyer Look, the only scam here is the cost of university. If anything, it should be free or much less expensive, as it is in the rest of the world. An ABET accredited degree that's the foot in the door for 99% of engineering roles? A chance to grow your professional network and do co-ops/internships and secure a role right out the door? Opportunities for higher education? Yeah, you need school for that. You've made a pretty shallow assessment, there. It's not just learning. It's the everything else that makes it happen. Pricewise, yes, it's a scam. But that's a bigger issue.

@@Lorium. i wanna do these things but dont have the resources to. I live where the maker scene is generally dead and there is no public places that offer the use of the more expensive gear. I did consider asking my dad since he is a investor into a EV charger company where he might know someone through that that can set me up. I did get a tour of Rolls Royce norway dep. by a relative that is a manager there, great work they do with electric duct fans

There really isn't any. Especially with the drive and opportunities presented to him. Uni is a setback at that point which makes me sad people fall for it.

The maker space has made these types of projects very accessible. There are still technologies that are difficult or expensive to get into, and that's where a university can help. For example, semiconductor fabrication requires a dedicated lab, and not something you can make at home. If you want to sell a product, you don't want to sell something that lots of other people can make. And your marketability is limited if all you know is maker space stuff and not any industry grade or cutting edge technologies.

Trust me when I say this is sheer hard work and perspicacity, all of these projects already have foundational knowledge to build off of so no cognitive R&D is required only mostly a step by step process of learning skills in a linear predictable fashion. I'm not discrediting anything, this display very good planning skills and a high learning rate which is crucial for engineering.
