What i love about sketches like this, is that even though its making fun of the sport. The joke is actually made for cricket fans. The more you know about the game, the more the jokes actually land. Its a joke for cricket fans, by cricket fans. proof we can all laugh at how silly we are are

I thought this was making fun of all those 'sports' movies where a bunch of amateur/untrained players coached by an old 'has-been', disillusioned, bitter balding old man go on to win a major championship/trophy

If you like the look of cricket after watching this you should also check out the proud sport of farnarkling. The way Dave Sorensen used to arkle the flukem, it was almost as if he had it on a string. RIP John Clarke

You're correct, this may as well have been in another language for me, but I stuck with it for David Mitchell's prosthetic nose and drunken accent and by god that was worth it on its own.
