I hate to be 'that guy' - the one who tries to discuss the point of the sketch, but since no-one else I know has seen this, I kind-of feel this is the best place to do so. I think that the main message of this sketch is that the notion of torture actually intrigues people, and a lot of them secretly long to hear stories about it, and of course when actually told the stories, they are shocked, horrified and genuinely affected by it.
@tozmom6157 жыл бұрын
Wattywatasaurus I thought it was a wry postmodernist take on the difficulties faced by the professional middle classes in securing a spot on the property ladder after the credit crunch.

I thought this was going to end on a joke about Mitchell's job, with Webb not learning his lesson, something like _"I'm a p*rn director." "What's the weirdest thing you've ever filmed?"_ or _"I'm a homicide detective." "What's the grizzliest murder you've ever seen?"_

No, here in the US we call them "Real Estate Agents," when referring to individual employees. "Realtor" is usually how we refer to the company or organization, as in: "I was checking out realtors this morning. The real estate agent should be here in half an hour." :P
when they went into the bathroom, she told him 'he had to listen to a full justin bieber album' poor lad.
@deafweasel9911 жыл бұрын
nope. just other names for estate agents
@ChrisCarries_EDC12 жыл бұрын
Correct. It's "realty" as opposed to "personalty". The former is land, the latter would be chattels, or personal belongings. So a "real estate agent" is an agent of real estate, the emphasis being on the type of "estate" involved. Of course, it's pointless to refer to yourself as a "personalty estate agent" because that applies essentially to everyone who sells anything but land. And since these terms come from English law which existed before Canada or the USA, we have "estate agent" in the UK.

"Realtor" is actually, technically, a trademarked term for members of a particular organization. The general term is meant to be 'real-estate agent'.

Well, calling them 'Realtors' provides the Americans with the possibility of creating a show based on the people who sell homes created by Dr. Seuss. Such a show could then be named 'Surrealtors'.

possibly a reference to what I think is called stockholm syndrome. People become emotionally attched to, and dependent upon, their captors and torturers She traumatised him and was then going to leave, hence the reaction
