I don’t want to spoil it, but you’re underestimating “old man Volk”. I love to watch Ilia fighting and I wish he will be champ one day. But I really think this title shot comes too early. Ilia is always hittable, and Volk will piece him up. I hope Ilia won’t get a beating so bad it’s going to change him. Man, Volk is a brilliant fighter, you’re selling him short because he got knocked out by Islam. It was at LW, Islam is a beast and Volk took the fight on 2 week notice. I think you’re in for a surprise.

@@justinafuchs2619 The record of UFC champs 35 years or older retaining their titles is 2 W - 28 L. The two were from Tyron Woodley. Volk is 35. His time is up. He may not lose to Ilia, but I find it very difficult to see how he retains the title for another year or two, and Ilia seems like the toughest challenger in the entire division.

@@FightXScience-wh6kx I don’t disagree with you on anything: Volk is 35 and he probably won’t be the champ next year, 35 is the magical number for the lighter weight classes and Volk might beat Ilia. So I’m with you. Still, you made it sound like you’re totally disagreeing with me. I just think many fans are writing Volk off too early. Ilia is an awesome fighter, I really like watching his fights. But again, Ilia is quite hittable, Herbert almost had him finished. I bet some money on old man Volk - not because I want him to win. I don’t care who wins, I would be happy with Ilia as the new champ. I just believe the title shot comes too early for him.
