This is a miter saw station build that will work for either the DeWalt DWS 779 or the DWS 780. It is 32" deep to allow for the travel of the sliding miter saw.

Awesome work and thanks for sharing. what are the measurements for the miter saw area?
@donaldhokanson3321
@donaldhokanson3321 2 жыл бұрын
It is 30" left to right and 32" front to back. You could adjust the front to back a little if you were fine with having deeper table tops. Or maybe change the design so only the miter saw portion sticks out further than the rest.

@EcoWorms Montreal sorry about the typo. I fixed the description to match. It is 32" front to back for the entire miter saw station.

Good job. This is exactly what I was planning so I can push my storage carts underneath to take advantage of that free space. Thank for sharing the dimensions as I have the Hercules HE74 which is roughly the same depth as the DeWalt 780.

Nice work! I’m dealing with an identical situation and hadn’t considered attaching the bench to the wall. The DWS779 eats up quite a bit of room. Working around a water heater but I think the depth of the fence will work if I have to extend my cut beyond the dimension of the shorter side. The only thing I’d add is some trim to the front and sides to prevent the top from chipping out. Thank you for uploading.

I've considered doing that as well, but I really haven't had as much issues with the MDF as I thought I would. I think I may go back and do a round over on the top though.

I found your video by doing a search of my miter saw model number, so of course we have the same miter saw. But, as I watched I noticed that you and I have basically all the same tools. From shop vac, to drills, to center punch to.... all of it. I half expected to see this thing build in my garage when I went back out there after watching you. It was pretty surreal. I'm actually in the market for a jointer. Maybe you can just tell me what you have so I can go and get that? Thanks for the video!

Haha that's crazy. I went with the Wahuda 8" jointer. It has a segmented, not spiral mind you, cutter head. It's been pretty good for a benchtop model but if you can afford the price and space of a used floor model I would go with that for the longer beds. So you have a drill press? My dad got me a cheap Menards one for Christmas so I didn't get to pick that out lol.

I have this saw for several years now. I am working on making a mobile stand. Had to stop and look on the net to see what others have done. Your station looks good but as you mentioned this saw has a large backend foot print. Kina a pain really.

Nothing actually. And it really hasn't been a problem. I suppose you could run something back to the wall for more support.

But there's no angle cut-out for using the miter for 55+ degree (vertical) cuts. What do you do, just slide the entire saw forward in order to accommodate the swiveled angle gauge??

It actually just barely fits. I would recommend making it like an inch wider so you're not pushing it.

Hey bud great video! I have the same saw but did some reason I had to make my tops 36” deep which is way to deep of a counter especially that I have tools hanging on the wall behind it so to constantly lean over those counters gets to be a real pain! How deep did you end up making yours? For some reason they don’t look as deep as mine, if there is any way I can cut even a few inches off front to back ( depth ) I would do it! If you don’t mind could you post the dimensions? Or if the plans are for sale can you post the link? I would really love to cut down the depth if possible. Thank you! And again great video!
@donaldhokanson3321
@donaldhokanson3321 3 ай бұрын
I guess I didn't say that the 30" pieces at the beginning of the video are specifically for the depth. So mine are only 30" deep. I guess if you wanted more space from the fence forward to cut really wide pieces and have support then you would need more than 30" but I haven't really needed more. Probably the widest boards I've been cutting are around 8" so I haven't needed more support. I do feel like leaning over 30" isn't too bad but it is a bit much so I understand 36" could be a problem. Good luck with trimming it down!

@@donaldhokanson3321 - gotcha… thanks for the response! So you get a the full slide motion with 30”? You don’t hit the back wall or when you turn the saw to make angle cuts? Really appreciate the info!

@@layneinchains4047 I haven't had any issues with hitting the wall. The rails in the back are stationary so as long as you set it up so it's just barely away from the wall you should be fine.

have you considered "in wall" recessed shelf for the sliding part of the miter saw? It's only 4", but it's always something. If you can sacrifice more space behind the wall, then you can make it even deeper.

I change my DWS780 for the DWS716XPS...much better on my 24 inch bench..in my garage...I don't really need a slider..I prefer...a choper with accurate cut....than the slider with deviation....also put a great blade on it....make big difference with quality of cut...DeWALT blade are only for ruff stocks..lol

Gotta say, that me a little nervous too from the angle I was watching but you’re an adult and you know how much room you have there. I’ve found (the hard way) that it’s not wise to stand in the path of kickback projectiles either. In my opinion, the table saw is the most dangerous piece of equipment in a wood shop. There are certainly other machines that pose hazards, but none are used more than the table saw on a daily basis.
