The front struts are part of the suspension system of the vehicle. It supports the weight of the vehicle and also absorb the impact from the road to ensure a smooth ride.
The struts of the vehicle should last about 7 to 8 years for the average driver.
Symptoms of bad struts:
- Vehicle move up and down at highway speeds
- Vehicle lean to one side on turns
- The front end drives more than expected during hard braking
- Rear-end squat during acceleration
- Rough idling
- Tires bouncing excessively
- Wavy tire wear
- Leaking Fluid on the exterior of the struts
Torque Spec
- Knuckle to bottom strut connection: 123 ± 7 ft-lb (167 ± 9 N⋅m)
- Vehicle frame to top strut nuts: 33 ± 3 ft-lb (44 ± 5 N·m)
- Self-Locking Nut on top of the strut: 45 ± 7 ft-lb (60 ± 10 N·m)
- Wheel Lug Nut: 73 ± 7 ft-lb (98 ± 10 N·m)
