Speaking of salt... Well that is somewhat true of limitless permutations of phenomena, where "having" is an illusion, fought for, fought against, segregated, discriminated, etc. etc. etc. Around and around it goes, no thanks. And there is gladness. :)

That's a fantastic question. I think it's beyond "why' at this point, it was never related to an intellectual-rational reasoning. He smokes out of habit, just like many of his peers from Japan.
