this is one of the best mixing masterclasses ever. Rather than a masterclass, it's more like a "walkthrough", which to me is more helpful, because I find that a lot of the masterclass content I've seen before is more about the person's "mixing philosophy", and although that is helpful, after you've watched a few of those, it sort of stops being new info. It's like "ok cool, you like to start with drums like 9/10 of the other engineers, but can we see how you actually mix them?" Anyway, I liked this a lot!
@RealHomeRecording

Thanks for the feedback I'll be incorporating it in my future tutorials. can you elaborate a little further about what would you would prefer from videos like these? I assume you want more practical explanations and not theory, correct?
@kennethbate2778
@kennethbate2778 3 жыл бұрын
@@RealHomeRecording I agree with the OP. Don't tell me what your doing show my what your doing and explain the process of it. example: you list your chain on the drums EQ, Compressor, and so on but don't show me the sequence of the chain or the process of fine tuning those aspects. just my 2 cents take it for what it's worth. As OP mentioned a walk through is 10 time more helpful.

the term masterclass is totaly wrong on youtube anyways.
@nathanmantle377
@nathanmantle377 2 жыл бұрын
@@RealHomeRecording Hey, sorry for the late response! Actually I'm a sucker for theory, and I think the theory is what most "bedroom producers" really need. Practical explanations are great, but it's hard to mix if you don't understand how compressors and other aspects of the signal chain work, don't have any ears, etc... but yeah, it's hard to make content that satisfies both things I'm sure, because the people who just wanna get quick answers won't watch long enough to engage with the content, while the theory-based people might get bored if the explanations involve concepts that they already know. I think the person doing the tutorials is a huge influence on the success of a youtube video though. Just gotta find someone with a soothing voice like Dan Worrall (guy who does the fabfilter videos)

Maria‘s view on using templates is worth mentioning here. It seems to follow her overall mindset as she‘s very modest and humble, always serving the song and the artist‘s vision and NOT trying to make the song sound in here style like so many others do. Very informative walkthrough, thanks for this.

Just goes to show. Get it right at the source. When you get great recorded tracks it doesn't take much to take it to the next level. That's why there's low level plugin counts. Just the right moves in the right places and thats all you need. Great job Maria!

One of the few traditional mixing engineers that actually knows the concept of reggaeton. For the longest time engineers would just do the worst mixing reggaeton music. This is why the producers usually keep everything in house and mix it themselves. I make reggaeton music and not everyone knows what parts need to stand out. This woman knows her stuff.
