Hello! Yes, this is my 1st time watching your videos. I go to the salon every 2-3 weeks for a Silk Press; my stylist uses a Hot Comb & Stove to silk me out. I’ve been Natural for about 13 years & I’ve had minimal damage; but my issue stemmed from not wrapping my hair (even though, I sleep on a silk pillowcase) & using a Boar-bristled brush instead of a detangling one. But, my hair is back on track. Thank you for dropping fresh content!!😊

Schools teach basics of hair chemistry and they teach for the masses. Which means usually straight hair. I encourage you to seek out a mentor to study under for about a year after graduation. You can google silk press in your area look at their work and ask them if they are interested on taking on an assistant to willing to teach. Congratulations on school keep the focus and finish strong.

Well thank you so much 🥰 I hope you enjoyed the video..So like 2 years ago I was feeling the same way, I was conflicted if I cared about length over healthy hair and I noticed when I was so dedicated to length doing protective styles back to back my hair wouldn't grow pass a certain amount. But now I shift my mind and I'm prioritize healthy hair I feel likes my hair keeps growing and growing..lol I really reduced how much I utilize protective styles I have now moved to maybe using protect styling at the max twice a year and each time it's only two weeks and then I take it down.. because I have to shampoo and deep condition my hair every 2 weeks..😊

Thank you for the video 😊 this is my first time watching you. I am not a beautician but I’ve been gifted when it comes to doing hair. I was a relaxed girl since the age of 12. I am now 54 and stopped relaxing in 2019. I truly miss having relaxed hair as I didn’t have to worry about the weather. My biggest issue is keeping my hair straight in the very front and stopping the puff 😡 so frustrating. I wanted to try the color wow but I kept seeing mixed info about formaldehyde or a derivative which was concerning to me. I use Mizani 25 leave in and I wanted to try the thermosmooth which when I searched brought me to your video. I love my length which I am back (middle of my back) to the length when I stated stretching my relaxer and just kept going. I too believe in healthy hair over long scraggly thin ends. The hair you did here did look relaxed excellent job 😊 Any suggestions as to why my hair reverts…my daughters (3) I can keep their hair straight but me it’s a no not in the roots anyway. Thank you for your time and Gods best to you and all you set out to do ♥
@BehindTheScenesM2GH
@BehindTheScenesM2GH 6 ай бұрын
Hi and welcome :) without seeing your hair I could not tell you exactly why it would revert at the roots, especially since you mentioned you are relaxed. I would suggest having a licensed professional apply your retouches. You can stretch it to every 6 months if you like. One advantage of having a professional apply the retouch that is overlooked is simply the vantage point. They are looking above your head and can see more of a 360 view. This helps to ensure a more uniform application. I do recommend the color wow it helped to keep the combat the humidity woes that I faced earlier in my career when performing silk presses. I have not seen any issues with the product for my clients. I hope this helps :)

This is my first time watching your video and I love how detail it is. I’m trying to get into silk press to add to my business service. I have a few questions. What kind of shampoo and conditioner do you use on your client for silk press or good recommendations? Also when you deep conditioner the hair do you let it sit in the hair for a few minutes before washing it out.

If you have fine hair look for product that deal with strength. start off with strengthen shampoo and conditioner.. always make sure you deep condition your hair, that's when you place your hair in a plastic cap and you sit under a dryer for 15 to 20 minutes.. now Mizani products great for all hair.. you just want to use a very small amount will go a long way when you have fine hair you want to make sure you applied products only to the hair and not the scalp.. now is nothing out there that would change the density of hair like if you have fine, or thick hair, that's your hair DNA you just have to learn how to work with it, I say stay away from protectivestyles that's very heavy or wait your hair down it will be a problem in the future, also properly shampoo and condition your hair every two weeks which is only twice a month will help with hair growth and retaining length, and make sure your ends or Trim and Healthy so you don't have to take off unnecessary hair in the future if you want a little more volume you can always get layers they add volume.. Now Products I will link the shampoo and conditioner I use at the salon and also some of the styling products I use I hope this help..

I use a professional heat setting. Pretty high. I think that is something that as you learn your tool and have your heat protection process down you will determine what is the right one. I know that is a long way to not answer the questions. But I don't want to say a # and it be the wrong one for you.

Hello how are you I do understand you said you do your own hair but I definitely highly suggest to go into the salon and get your scalp cleanse by a stylist.. Using a hot oil treatment to treat the scalp help with dandruff but you definitely need to make sure your scalp is clean utilizing a clarified shampoo also follow through with a moisturizing shampoo, hot oil treatment and a moisturizing conditioner.. if you're interested in any of the products I use in the salon you definitely can find them on my website under the silk press services.. www.my2goldenhands.com/mizani-recommendations

So with a Silk Press, is this the one where you can't get your hair wet for 3 days, then after that it stays straight and moves like Caucasian hair? Great video 😊
@BehindTheScenesM2GH
@BehindTheScenesM2GH Жыл бұрын
No it's not a chemical at all if your hair gets wet or anything like that it will revert back. A silk press is where you take your natural hair and you simply press it out with a flat irons how to maintain a silk press you'll have to wrap it up at night make sure you don't get it wet it will revert back with natural humidity and sweat but also you can keep it up to 2 weeks if your hair doesn't revert back and after the 2 weeks you can shampoo your hair and it's back into its natural style, this is all black women natural hair nothing about it is Caucasian

I always wash and silk press my hair once a week. It’s not as shiny almost times but it’s straight. I also am trying to grow out my hair but I’m scared to retouch my relaxer soon since I got breakage last time I retouched. The leave in conditioner and blow dry cream in the box relaxer didnt give my hair enough slip and got major breakage while blow drying. Now I have recovered that length down just passed my collar bone. Hopefully I get it down my back without breakage 😢

Yes I highly suggest when you do a relaxer to also do the olaplex treatment the full line. Make sure you always use neutralizing shampoo to completely wash out the relaxer make sure your hair is completely washed out with the neutralizing shampoo and then use the olaplex conditioner to deep condition your hair and then also the olaplex number two and the full olaplex line.

Stop retouching your own hair. I was a professional and I seek professional hair care for retouching of my relaxer and trims. I respectfully disagree with trimming the ends prior to flat ironing. You achieve accurate trims when the hair is bone straight. I noticed you were still snipping after you finished blowing it. I love Mizani products and stay away from products that are more geared towards Caucasian hair because they don't protect the hair well. I was using the Keratase brand and my hair felt weak and was snapping, even though it was super-shiny, moved with a wisp of air, it was weak. The oil did not protect from breakage, so I purchased a jar of Mizani's Rose H2O hair cream and my hair responded beautifully. It's shiny, healthy (need my ends trimmed) and is halfway down my back. The Keratase brand in the Oleo group is fine for natural and relaxed hair. The dry hair set is good, too, but for general hairdressing, it gets a big NO from me. I will go back to purchasing Mizani after I use up all expensive products. Well, Mizani ain't cheap, but costs a hecka lot less than Keratase. Thanks for the video.
