Many events took place in a better way in the reboot. I mean, many simply happened out of nowhere in the original time-line. Like, why does Jax have metal arms in MK3? Nobody friggin' knows.

It's written in the character bio. But I digress. The thing about the original timeline is that their bios kinda establish the story, but the player has to put the pieces together for all the details. But I will say, I do prefer a story mode to clarify a few things.
