MK5 GTI Front Suspension Upgrades: Forge Motorsport Coilovers & Whiteline Bushings

In this episode, we replace the front suspension on the VW MK5 GTI. We use Forge Motorsport Coilovers and Whiteline bushings to firm up the front end of this Golf, getting it track ready!

FYI - You don't have to cut the strut tops out, however you would have to remove the coilover anytime you wanted to make adjustments to ride or camber. This was a non-starter for a track car.

Looking at these coilovers for my car, how's the ride of them? Harsh? Too stiff?

How big of a weight savings is that?

think its around 8 pounds each side, more for the unsprung weight for steering, think it lowers the car alittle too

I just want 1" or 1.3" low, can I do that with this coilovers, ecs tuning said this go 2"

There is a ton of adjustability built in. ECS would know better than us, but I’d be shocked if you couldn’t meet your goals.

What do you guys think about doing air ride on a 997? I am doing a build 4.2 on my 997 4S is almost done at vision.. I was thinking of doing suspension with D2 Racing air suspension..

Air-ride has come a really long way. There will be plenty of haters, but Zach is strongly considering it for the Cayman. It’s the ultimate do it all suspension!

I am definitely going to do air ride suspension, not sure what brand I will use.. Will need to do some research on what people have done.. I have not seen many 911 with air suspension.. Don't really care about haters.. Its my car..

Thanks, didn't know about this combined compressor and tank. Looks very interesting, wonder what the price compared to the traditional compressor and tank compare.. I was able to locate a few dealer in LA and Orange county. Thanks
