MKBHD is already pretty tame when it comes to criticism by KZfaq standards. Blaming a reviewer for a failing company is like blaming the weatherman for the hurricane

You're right but the analogy is very dumb lmao. A negative review can convince people not to buy the product. A hurricane would occur whether the weatherman reported it or not

He hasn't been tame. I'm mostly upset about what happened to Fisker, a company really dedicated to sustainability. He's holding start ups to the same standards as mega corps, and the start ups have to deal with the biggest name in tech outright rejecting their product. I don't expect new companies to create products as good as something Apple or Google makes, so I'm more forgiving when a company that has a great cause doesn't get it right the first time. I don't blame him for sharing his opinion, but there isn't even a chance for these companies to improve. It just makes me feel sad.

It also safes a lot of people money... People who potentially would have invested more, customers who woulda payed 700 bucks and the list goes on. Its a good thing, that bad products get filtered out of the market asap. It would only be immoral, if marques would intentionally make bad reviews for a good product just to hurt a company. This one is clearly not it.

Nearly everyone stumbles at first but the important thing is to be able to learn from your mistakes. If this thing was good this could have been the only exception, because it needs a chatGPT premium subscription and a data plan to function as advertised and because neither of those things have a one-time fixed price, they cannot offer a one-time fixed price (just like how a phone cannot function as advertised without a subscription to a cell service provider) but this product that's being discussed in this video is more expensive than my phone and my phone can do anything that product can do as good or better and as far as the subscription is concerned with this phone I'm not locked into one option for the required subscription

@@sciteceng2hedz358 here's the problem though, there's a lot of pieces of software that are a one-time install, and then there are no further costs to the owner of said software that do require a subscription and that's completely stupid. That's purely so they can make more money and there's no actual justification for it, this is one of the few products I would disagree with this person's approach because a it needs a data plan and that requires long-term maintenance and upkeep to keep cellular data a thing, and it also requires a chatGPT premium subscription, which is another thing that has ongoing costs to the owner, but even if this was a good product, anything this can do your phone can do better. Exactly, we, both the product designers and the consumer want the product to succeed. Who wouldn't want a brand new piece of tech that changes the world in a way that was completely unimagined. But if the product doesn't deliver its promised features, we don't as consumers owe it to company to stick up for it after failures and pamper it like a child. It's a ruthless world out there. And if one bad review, however notable that maybe, crashes your company, then maybe the foundations weren't so solid in the first place.

The Humane AI Pin in specific, it seems to me, is bad by design. It's not really about issues, it's supposed to be this way and work this way. I don't think they will improve much of anything. Maybe some small stuff like the response time of requests, but even then, they knew it would be like this from their own testing, obviously. They either can't or don't want to do much about it. They still decided to release their product like this, including the much more fundamental things flaws. That's why I have no pity for them.

When I first came across that tweet about your review of the Humane AI pin, my first thoughts were "Shouldn't reviews be honest?" and "Blaming the reviewer for actually giving honest feedback is actually counterproductive to any progress in any industry." Keep doing what you do, Marques, that is why we watch your reviews.

****Don't be a silly customer to buy iphone anymore!**** Iphone Pro/Pro Max model display parts become short life consumer parts now, most of that will failure after about 14-18 months (just appear problem while out of warranty) that cost USD $350 to repair/replace the display unit to solve the no display issue, or user pay 50% cost to extend a year warranty, however the new parts may live for another 14-18months user have to pay additional cost for using the phone for 2nd or 3rd year or later on. Let search 'iphone pro white screen issue' as key word to get more detail before buy a iphone. spread out that critical info to resist unreasonable excessive charges by such Abominable profiteer and minimize further victims.

@@daveprice5911 to an extent i can understand having the mindset. it isnt really wise to just see companies as faceless monoliths, you can pretedn its not the case, but behind companies are people with dreams and aspirations in a lot of cases. its a thought that depending on your level of empathy will come up to your head, especially when you are being accused of ruining a company and especially considering its a smaller one, obviously noone would feel bad for a bad Apple review. having that said i absolutely agree with op in that reviews are to protect consumers first and foremost, and in this case the VERY scammy nature of the product, and frankly absolute pointlessness as a product, not only meant it was doomed to fail but also doesnt inspire much empathy.

So many AI products right now are launched as in “Beta” because they just can’t quite back up their claims and they need people to give them a little leeway.

@@ubacow7109 A review isn't about "criticizing a brand" it's about doing a review of the product? I've watched his recent reviews of Apple VR, Tesla Cybertruck and a couple of mobile phone reviews and those reviews definitely didn't leave me with a desire to get any of these. So I think you kind of need to actually name a review, where you think he was milk-toasty positive about something, that was actually bad. If you can't then you're just kind of making stuff up.

The simple truth that “Correlation is not Causation” is really lost on a lot of people
@divirusp

While it's simple, people are wired to find causation. And mistaken one for another is one of the cognitive biases we are all granted with. So yeah, this is very common thing which also feels intuitive lots of times. Intuition is just not a good guide sometimes.

@@divirusp Intuition is heuristic decision making. It's fine when resources such as time is low, but with ample resources we can take a statistical approach instead (Kahneman). It's a bad argument to say he has no effect and he has incentive to say that so he isn't canceled. Marketing wouldn't be a $700bn industry if the quality of the product is all that matters.

Pretty sure that was never the issue (at least the posts I have seen). It was about intentionally making a clickbait title when the actual review showed it's nowhere near the worst product. He himself admits the hardware was pretty impressive engineering considering its size. It's also a first-generation product in completely new category. I can bet he will never do this with a company like Tesla or Apple, since the backlash will be orders of magnitude stronger.
