It's been awhile since I've been this happy working on a track, but the cycle for this one has been pretty positive. Received some feedback and ideas so far from people in Mayro's server and the MKW DX server, plus integrating a lot of the ideas I intended to so far. I'm gonna keep ironing them out, but I feel like we're finally getting to a point where I could safely call it Beta and a little more shaping up and fixing and we'll have a v1.0, I'd say.
The next things I'm going to tackle will be adding more Curly enemies in different varieties to the track to match the idea of Wind Fortress in Cave Story, which revolved around her being cloned by the G-Clone and attacking the main character (I don't wanna spoil their name for new players still!), fixing up lag on console to the best of my capacity, polishing visuals down and playing with the lightmap in general, probably some more post-effect work and adding proper intro cams. I also might play with some more collision and ideas for gameplay if there's any good last minute stuff, but I do really like how this one shaped up so far. It's a weird and wacky one with a lot of personality and some very offbeat ideas, hopefully it's not too far out of the wheelhouse and just generally fun to drive.
This track is meant to be a happier one and is inspired by a lot of rising above the feelings you're experiencing and carving out more of a passion and fire for yourself and getting through the prison surrounding you in whatever ways you can. I really wanted to capture the feeling of being above the clouds and experiment with rising and falling terrain/a track design that rewards the player for using alternate routes that require them to choose to go up or down a lot (and in some situations with item placement, it might be better to take an alternate line). Hopefully, the gameplay is freeform enough to accommodate for it, and has some fun cuts as a result :)
Thanks for reading and continue to expect more updates/new tracks. I needed this return pretty bad and making new stuff has been very fulfilling lately in the offtime I have here or there. :)
