I'm not a Tigers fan, but as soon as I saw the title of this video I immediately had flashbacks to Galarraga. Poor guy's always gonna have an asterisk on him, but let's be real -- we all know he did it. He really did pitch a perfect game. And then after he was robbed of that because of somebody else's mistake, he responded with grace and empathy. Much respect to that dude.

I think they were just insulting the home plate umpire. Like how can you be so blind to miss something that a dude 100 feet away can see.

This is why MLB needs review of umpires. Start fining umpires or suspending them

Paul Z ya start fining umps for missing calls that you can only easily see in slow motion. That's like fining players for errors dumbest thing I have heard
@carlosmatos98487 жыл бұрын
Paul Z Do you even watch baseball? They've got replay, the only thing the umps ever screw up is balls and strikes. But I'd like to see you do better at judging the exact location of a 99 mph fastball or a curveball that breaks 18 inches.

@nicholasmackenzie16474 жыл бұрын
A ground ball just needs to pass over the base fair. Wherever it lands afterwards doesn't matter. Still the wrong call but for a different reason.
@emberlily74 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasmackenzie1647 what I said doesn't conflict with what you're saying. It would have been more clear if I said "bag" instead of "outfield"
@nicholasmackenzie16474 жыл бұрын
@@emberlily7 but the ball didn't hit the bag. The call wasn't premature. Just bad.
@jackharrington41244 жыл бұрын
Nicholas MacKenzie not true. It’s where the ball hits the ground first after passing the bag. Since it took a bounce over the bag, it can be viewed as fair or foul based on when it first hits the ground after passing it
@nicholasmackenzie16474 жыл бұрын
@@jackharrington4124 nope. Where the ball passes the third base bag on a ground ball. Fly ball or line drive that hits the ground after the bag matters where it lands. A groundball can pass over the bag fair and land foul. It is still a fair ball.

There is another one from a Cubs @ Dodgers game that was left out where Silva gets ejected in July Also at 1:28, the Padres also had that very same call go against them in August of 2009. Literally the EXACT SAME scenario as that one, except the 2009 call resulted in Bud Black being ejected

You can definitely get thrown out, even if you're not up in his face. You are automatically fined if you bump an ump, so I think Wigginton was trying to get as close as possible without bumping. Don't think it worked. And yeah, it looked pretty silly.
