MLB Blown Calls Leading To Ejections - May 2019

Here is a video featuring all of the bad calls umpires made leading to the ejection of a player and/or manager. There were a few plays such as a A's slide into second base that I left out because I felt the slide was not dirty and therefore did not need to be included.
Huge shout out to MLB Ejection Tracker for making a video featuring every ejection from the month, from that video I cut out plays where I believe the umpires made the correct call, or plays that involve throwing at batters.
Check out my second channel : / aabbbcccdddify
This channel will feature sports video game gameplay

The one thing I learned early on as an amateur umpire is that you have to be spot on and consistent with up and down with the strike zone. Both benches have an excellent view of both and will jump on your butt if you go too low, too high, or are inconsistent with either.

regarding the A's game where the announcer, who probably never got out of rookie ball says"he got fooled and how did he miss it".. in the umpires defense, yes we do miss a pitch here and there. At this level, a 92 mph cutter is very tricky and of course, you stand by your call. There is 250 pitches thrown in a MLB game and he missed one... More people should put on the gear and try it. this is a big reason why the United States is short 10,000 umpires, referees and officials in 2019. The pay isnt enough to get beat up game after game. Try taking a 95 foul ball. It HURTS !!!

I find nothing wrong with the umpire giving pitchers a LITTLE bit of leeway with the strike zone. It drives me crazy though when one pitcher gets the calls, and the other pitcher doesn't when they put the ball in the same place.

Then you don’t know the rule. Since his bat was over the plate, it had to be either a strike, foul, or hit. Even if the actual ball hit the batter in the face.

They should get rid of the homeplate umpire making calls like this with technology nowadays. Sports evolve so why can referees in all sports evolve. It would make games purely base on skill and not guesses.

Automatic ejection, ejection for arguing replay/balls strikes/etc need to be banned. If a mangaer is delaying a game or becoming verbally abusize, a player throwing equipment, fine...... these rules are stupid

3:23 I think that was borderline. Definitely nowhere near as egregious as the Drury called strike at the 1:00 mark. I could give the Umpire a break on this one. From the side shot, it looked right at the kneecaps, so I'd call that a borderline call - 50/50 strike/ball.

They need to start making an age requirement and an age limit on umpires....they have guys that are way to young handling games and make terrible judgement calls and then you have the likes of Joe West, CB Bucknor, Angel Hernandez who are all way to old and clearly have gotten too comfortable

Get rid of umpires altogether. If ever there was a job meant to be eliminated by automation, this is it. They're fucking useless.

I just love it when the TV announcers, watching their screens with little knowledge of either the rule book or what it’s like at the plate sanctimoniously declare strikes and balls. They key on the spot where the ball hits the catcher’s glove, which is two feet, or more, behind the rear of the plate. What counts is where the ball first passes the plate (on the front edge) and its relation to the batter. At the bottom of the knee, the one closest to the pitcher, marks the bottom of the strike zone. Read the MLB rules.

Umpires do it for the attention. They know nothing is going to be done by mlb so they love the attention, they love to be noticed
