@BronxBomber-mf9hl5 жыл бұрын
I was ten years old when this happened and Griffey was a God to me. 3 years before, i started collecting baseball cards and was in the hunt for the 89 upper deck card, back when you actually had to hunt for it not like nowadays when you can go on the internet, point , click , and buy whatever you needed, the 90's were a great time..

Bronx Bomber1983 Amen, man. The 90’s were great. Hunting for baseball cards, and actually having to walk into a store to buy your favorite player’s jerseys. Good times for sure.

0:45 Joe Morgan with a solid prediction right there. By the late 90's I'd say it came true. Sucks that he got overshadowed by a bunch of cheaters when he was putting together a couple of the greatest seasons of all-time in 1997 and 1998. Sucks even more that the injuries halted his record-breaking numbers. But most of all, it's just too bad that the man never got a world series ring. With that loaded Mariners team in the late 90's, I still can't figure out how they didn't win more often.

Pretty cool seeing Prince Fielder as a kid. Who knew he would turn out to be a great slugger like his dad Cecil.

93 Rangers was a great team. Young Pudge, Rafael Palmeiro, Jose Canseco, Kenny Rogers. Use to play 93 Tony Larusso Baseball for sega one of the best Baseball games of all time, before it’s time with Ai and franchise. Rangers and Oakland As was the squad.

I cant thank you enough for this.I have been looking for many years for the 1993 derby.Have you got any footage for Cecil Fielder from the 1992 derby?
@BashBrothersVideos5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, no. There were only highlights of the 1992 and 1992 derbies, then a pre-recorded, edited showing of the 1993 derby, of which this video has portions, then ESPN finally aired it live yearly from 1994 onward.

Crazy how 12 was the record and 7 was considered good yet Stanton hit over 20 while timed
@birdland26545 жыл бұрын
It's a completely different type of competition now. Back then, the hitters had to be VERY selective because they were only given 10 outs. You basically had...at the very least...10 swings. At best, 10 swings. Now, it's a free-for-all where it's about swinging as frequently as possible hitting as many hrs as possible. If the setup were the same during this era, the results would be similar and may have even been better.
@BronxBomber-mf9hl5 жыл бұрын
Agreed once they changed the hr derby format I stopped watching, I started watching from 90-2000 then it just got to be like meh
