As a former pitcher adding a body-jerk or any additional sudden movement to throw off a batter's timing was always key. The trick is not letting it interfere with your follow-through.

It deff works if it's enough to throw me off as the viewer I can only imagine how much it can fuck you up during a big game under pressure tens of thousands of people shouting and hollering. Yeah that shit will fuck you up I'm surprised pitchers don't do weird little things like that more often. I'm not huge on baseball so I don't know what the limits are to how much you can move around or what kind of gestures your aloud to make can you wave your arms around can you take steps backwards forwards? Is there a time limit to how long you can stall until you have to throw your next pitch?

Nice list! When I saw Quisenberry on there I thought, what about Tekulve! (but you got to him!) Only two, off the top of my head, that could have been on there that weren't, were Fernando Valenzuela (he didn't look as he delivered, his eyes look up at the lid on his cap) and Mitch Williams, who would nearly be standing backwards by the time he finished delivering.

Never been a Yanks fan, but I've always liked Orlando Hernandez pitching form. The way he tucks his leg into his body and nearly grazes his left cheek with his knee. That style takes dexterity to a new definition.

Same here. Always enjoyed Orlando and Livan for that matter.

So apparently any arm slot besides 3/4 is "weird"
@zonker05627 жыл бұрын
You mean the side arm guys right? Well if you've played baseball you know that it's a really weird look from the plate, from a lefty it always looks like it's outside and from a righty it always looks like it's gonna hit hit you.

CoBeX31 My pitch. I lift and straighten my leg and I throw 3/4. I lift my other and it lands in front of me. Looks super weird

Jason Isringhausen should have been here. I remember him having his own funky way of setting his lead foot down that threw off many batters' timing. It's as if he's setting his lead foot down TWICE in the same pitching movement - the best way i could describe it. As for pitchers that are still active & pitching today, Nestor 'The Molestor' Cortes has his own way of odd movements designed to mess up hitters & their timing.

Gary Peters, a White Sox pitcher from the 60's, had a very slow, deliberate wind up and then, all of a sudden, the pitch came in at 90 miles an hour. He lulled hitters to sleep with that motion and then let them have it with the pitch. Very good pitcher too.

I've never seen or heard someone say "ITS A ONE HITTER" and have the pitcher and team be so excited.. You would think it would've been a no hitter.

obv u never heard of the d-train or the 2003 marlins. this was his first CGSO at like 20 years old, eventually won rookie of the year, outstanding pitcher for the first three years of his career. Almost won a Cy Young too. The 2003 Marlins were kind of like the 2015 Mets with very good young pitchers. Except the Marlins actually knew how to get it done.
