Looked like plate blocking to me honestly, it looked like the catcher had his back foot in front of the plate before he had the ball in possession. I am biased though lol

@@guaceldono7231I agree. I saw Elly’s get caught in the back foot while he was fielding the ball but wasn’t caught yet

@@guaceldono7231 Blocking the plate is legal if the ball never left the infield, generally thrown by by infielder or pitcher. You can't block if it comes from the outfield grass. Reds tries to make the play at home a lot so this is explained quite a few times.

I'm actually a Blue Jays fan but I really enjoy watching this young Reds team, they seem to never give up, exciting baseball, and I appreciate that mindset.

Isn’t that illegal? I thought they decided you can’t block the plate as that incentivizes charging catchers basically. If you won’t let Elly dive for home he’s left with the only option of bowling you over.

I think it's because they're really aggressive with their playing and they always are happy and try their best like usually none of that lazy stuff where they could have easily snapped up the ball but didn't. Also since they're kind of underdog status it's even more fun

My fellow Colorado Sports Fan, as much as I relish (I'm super fricking hyped!!) that our Rapids have 37 points this season, I can't abandon my Rockies. As much as I want the team to be sold, I won't turn my back so easily. I didn't abandon my Rapids last year, so I will remain steadfast to my baseball team (no matter how painful it may be lol)

So...kind of like yesterday. Not as bad as the score says, but it was still not a good showing at all. 2nd time we've been shutout in 6 games, it's really hard to understand this team sometimes. De La Cruz is such an X-Factor for the Reds, we got burned by him the last time we faced off. There's still time to win some in this series, but we've gotta start getting the bats warmed up! One more thing before I sign off for tonight. That play in the 5th inning? Yeah, you know the one. Don't ever let that happen again. Wake up you guys, I know you can. Sell the team. Go Rockies 💜🖤

its bs that the catcher can fully block the plate or have a body part in the path of the plate without it being interfernce/players able to collide at the plate. player safety is key so i understand why, it still just is an advantage to catchers

This is just sad. All these pitchers that can throw fastballs at upwards of over 100mph, make them curve, drop or move in a squirrel-y way to make batters look stupid. Yet they can't make a routine throw anywhere. These organizations need to start training their pitchers on how to field and throw balls.

Elly is by far a great player! But if you’re gonna steal home you better be a 1000% sure you get there. At the end of the day you’re trying to win games. With that said, not taking away anything from this young man. Great future ahead of him and this Reds team!

Look at when Elly starts his slide and is reaching for the plate, his hand hits the pitcher's foot. It looks like the catcher blocked the plate.
