"To become a better player, you have to take care of your equipment," Ichiro said through Mariners translator Hide Sueyoshi. "The same thing applies to a chef (and his knives). You're a professional. You earn money with a profession therefore you respect the tools you use to earn the money." We need more folks to learn from Ichiro

He batted .372 in 2004 when he set the single-season hit record. 262 will never be touched.

There were other great moments as well. 1. The "Laser beam throw" that gunned down Terrence Long. 2. The "Come from behind Walk off HR" off Mariano Rivera 3. The "All-Star Game inside-the-park HR" in San Francisco

I know home runs are coveted. But I’d rather become the hit king then the home run king. Batting over 300 for a career is a fantasy to me

Such a gentleman too when he was playing, beside one of the best all round players ever. Just like Aron Judge

My favorite player of all time. I'm gonna miss being able to watch a player with that mentality and and play style. He could make contact with just about anything and guide the ball to an exact place on the field at his own desire. A little disappointed the video didn't end with his final game when he played the 2019 Japan series.

Ichiro was so stoic and the way he hit the ball and seemingly at the same time was heading to first base was definitely unique. He came in and took charge.

I was at that game on in March of 2018. It was amazing to see my favorite player rob another homerun in person!

He knew how to hit instead of hitting high in the air/sky they have time to adjust to catch it and give you and easy out you hit it to the ground a ground ball and its bouncing across the ground going 15 mphs or faster he has enough time to run to first base incredible thinking

This man better be a first ballot HOF. Maybe not 100% vote but I could see 80%-90% in my opinion

6:15 You can hear a salty hater repeatedly screaming "you suck ichiro!" after he hit his 200th hit for the 10th consecutive season. Imagine having that kind of hatred for one of the most humble superstars. Prob a degen racist

Offensively he is very overrated. Career OPS he ranks no. 838, only had 1 year of .400 + OBA and he had to hit .372 to achieve it. Career OBA he ranks no. 571. He was a one dimensional offensive player. Rusty Staub had higher career runs created total.

and NOT to my surprise, only a boomer could say something like that. There is inherently something wrong about a whole generation of baby boomers whom were entitled to everything, given everything, grew up in a generation of the greatest wealth in us history, a single man could work and pay for his entire family, where jobs werent given away manufacturing, where boomers didnt kill every industry and blame the young ones who didnt even enter the workforce yet. These are the narcissistic baby boomers, that were granted everything, given all the money, messed around all day long as a youth via hippy movement and flower power then have the nerve to tell the young generation not to sleep around, dont do drugs, and be perfect and get a job like boomers, that had jobs that could support an entire family and a wife. A good portion of baby boomers suffer from Narcissistic personality disorder; a very toxic and one of the worst personality disorders next to psychopathy and sociopathy

Here’s a fact, he’s a lead off hitter so that makes things 25%-33% harder to create runs when there’s nobody on for a quarter of your at bats.

@samtook3368 Your right he is very overrated, NOT! 10 years/200 hits IN A ROW! 262 hits in a single year! Your not a boomer your a millennial or gen x/z who just looks at analytics and statcast b.s. and home runs are everything. These are records that Ichiro has that will never be broken. You think hitters are good who hit 40 homers but have a 250ish average? Kyle Schwarber is having a great year sub .200 BA but he has 40 home runs!? Most hitters in the past 10 years don’t even come close to 262 hits in any given year. Cmon
