Diehard Yankees fan here. Tommy Lasorda is my all time favorite manager. I honestly believe he was the best motivator and ambassador that baseball has ever seen. RIP Tommy. You will be missed.

Tommy, you and Scioscia made me fall in love with baseball and the Dodgers. I coach both my son's teams and still continue to play as a middle aged man! Greatest sport ever! Thank you Orel and RIP Tommy!

Obviously Tommy brought the best in Orel Hershiser, and it's great that he would take the time to share that with Major League Baseball.

Great Manager he will be missed. Another story I just heard. When Orel was pitching for the Indians and we were on the brink of elimination, Tommy called Orel and fired him up. Told him he wasn't a bulldog during his games he recently pitched. Now I see why in that game Orel came out with fire and won that game for us. Always wondered why all of a sudden Orel changed into this raging bulldog after being a puppy the last few games. Love you Orel. Thanks for the memories. One of the best players to ever put on the uniform and show what Baseball is and how it should be played.

Tommy Lasorda-- a person you could never be sad when seeing or hearing--Even when he used swear words, you never heard any real disdain or hate; just heard some average frustrations of the immediate moment
