One thing I noticed in the comic was the 'winged Fleur' that appeared when the changeling assumed her form during their fight; this is a nod to a glitch that appeared in the Gameloft MLP app where the model of Fleur was erroneously made an alicorn instead of a unicorn. When the mistake was addressed, it was jokingly commented that the winged Fleur had been a changeling impostor.

Did anyone catch that Fleur could be a changeling from the dialogue between herself and her attacker? Because I'm pretty sure it's heavily implied.

I love the idea of her actually being a bodyguard who just acts like an admittedly airheaded model.

Beautiful artwork, I genuinely thought it was an actual story in the IDW comics!

In today's episode, the role of Prince Blueblood will be played by someone who isn't a total prick.

I really love this comic and the idea of Fluer being the pony equivalent of the Black Widow (as in Marvels Black widow, so there's no misunderstanding). My best guess for why there's no female royal guards is mostly for the physical bulk, but I like the idea that females could serve as a form of black ops.

My question, what did the Changling mean by "Thats why you ran?" Is she going to be revealed as having been a Chnagling herself, who ran away from her hive?

Is it true that many MLP fans don't like this character? For a supermodel with little to no information in the show, I instantly liked her in "Sweet and Elite" for the little screen time she spent cleaning off Fancy Pants and complementing Rarity; in other words, not being snobby.

Almost thought this was an actual part of the comic before I saw the credits. Would've made sense for it to take place (spoiler alert)... After Chrysalis escaped from her prison in the comics.

Fleur actually speaks in one episode “Hmm, a pony with expensive tastes I see!” I love her voice, it’s funny! I even say it out loud in her voice when I think of it.

This is why I love the comics! You're able to learn more about characters you rarely see on the show and, for me, it instantly dispels any ridiculous head cannons people tend to come up with solely based on stereotyping.

*MWHAHAHAHHA IM SUCCH A GENIUS NOPONY EXPECTED THAT!*

I don't really care at all about the subverted gender role, but I DO like that the comic subverted expectations on this particular character in a way that makes sense. Most fan interpretations of Fleur I've seen portray her relationship with Fancy Pants as a genuinely heartfelt, emotional thing, but also that the elite of Canterlot think of her as nothing but a trophy wife. There are a bunch of different given reasons why Fleur is with Fancy (ranging from 'i was a common pony who caught his eye' to 'Fleur is secretly a changeling and keeps this secret so she isn't burned at the stake') but the general assumption is of a love story. A romance. The comic uses that assumption against the reader and the characters and subverts it, making Fleur not only a genuinely caring pony but the protagonist of an action story/spy thriller. It's not only unexpected, but a great addition to the character. On top of that, the comic never outright states their relationship, so the love story angle the fans explored before is left open. Sure, the new backstory provides a different CONTEXT, but it doesn't cut out the idea entirely, which I freaking LOVE about this fan comic. It expands on Fleur's character without cutting out anything fans may have already decided about her. I also genuinely thought this dub was of an official comic, at first. It would not have surprised me at all.

I was shocked to hear your voice on fancy pants and I have to say great work voice acting. I like that comic too because I love comics, stories, and the show can sometime caught you off guard.

Overall, it's an excellent piece of work and I feel enriched for hearing it. Too bad the actual writers of the show don't always live up to this level of quality.

Royal Wedding? Sounds like this is before A Canterlot Wedding. So that's what happened to Princess Luna during wedding party.

I sure hope this backstory is at least somewhat true! Not only was it fun to see a broader side of what I thought was just a supermodel pony, but also to watch the few times that we see Fleur de Lis in the show with a lot more focus.

Impressive work on this comic. I too had the theory that, considering that the kingdom is RULED by a female diarchy and since the usual heroes are young women, there were probably some government agents somewhere doing business in Celestia's name. My theory was confirmed some time after this video's release, when it was revealed in the episode "Slice of Life" that Bon Bon was an anti-monster secret agent whose real name was Sweetie Drops. She hadn't told her close friend Lyra her secret, leading to a minor conflict between the two before they made up near the end of the episode.

Don't think snobby ponies are what they look like, they can be at their core, amazing. 🐎

uhm... why aren't you co9mmenting on he beeing a chengeling??? you are all just about the royao guard thing but she is presented as the missing link for Chrysalis plan to infiltrate the castle before the royal wedding! Notice how the changeling says "no one liked you. That's why you ran away" or when he uses wings and says "you always followed the rules, even if it put you in a disadvantage" and especially the "just as planned" at the very end! For all I know she could actually me Chrysalis!

I didn’t thought this would be fleur's life but it’s actually quite interesting and cool to see that she is a royal guard and it would make a great and amazing story.
