100%, but it can't be understated how powerful the mid-combo shift is once you have a grasp of both stances. Fighters who have different weapons from each stance & can hide when they're switching are killing it right now

Plus the ability to circle while switching stances is golden if you combine it with feints. Izzy does it a ton and leon edwards too. But then again those are absolute masters

Interesting stuff. I occasionally use a step back stance change to instigate a counter in the opposite stance. Then I'll change it up to a two-step back step. Or switch stance and deliver a combo of a straight punch first, then a jab, then a low kick to confuse my opponent.

Switching stances is a lifetime commitment. If you want to carry two weapon sets it will require double the time to master. 20,000 hours. Mastering one takes exactly 1 YEAR, 240HOURS of practice. This doesn't guarantee anything. Everyone could potentially be better than you so you also might not make use of it. Learn it, it's crazy helpful.

I wrestled for a very very long time, and switching my stance is one of my favorite tactics, but it needs to be done for a reason. Ill use it to switch angles, or move in and out on my opponent, but its quick and back out of danger

100% agree but it's more of to throw off the striking of the other guy... or different crap to land a take down or something. a lot of orthodox don't know how to fight southpaws. you suddenly gonna land so much of your 1-2 without even trying.
@AscendingGod
@AscendingGod 9 ай бұрын
I learned this the hard way in boxing. I'm ambidextrous so I can fight either orthodox or unorthodox. I used to think I could confuse people by switching randomly. I quickly learned it just means getting hit from different angles randomly. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Or in my case. Just because you THINK you can, doesn't mean you should.

Pacquiao (Southpaw) rarely goes Philly shell. Mayweather (Philly shell) rarely goes southpaw. Iron Mike (Peekaboo) rarely goes cross guard. Foreman was a beast with cross guard but so is Mike with Peek-a-boo. Rather practice one stance one thousand times than practice one thousand stance once. There is once exception, which is Hitman Stance together with Philly Shell (My preference) because it's easier transitioning between the two. Flicker jab/Chopping right and Shoulder roll slip/Right Cross counter.

I fight both im more defensive on my normal stance and offensive on my southpaw stance. I switch to create distance to counter when people get aggressive seem to work flawlessly on every style and keep people at bate but I got a good jab and distance control on both stance and I can grapple someone on the inside due too bjj and mma training mix with wrestling so it get me out of trouble but there a lot to learn on one stance so I don’t have enough Time to train to make it and display it to the world
