Shinsuke Nakamura does have a decent collegiate wrestling background, but still he was clearly out of his league here against Daniel Gracie. Nakamura would go on to win a handful of fights after this so he did better in MMA than a lot of pro wrestlers at least.

There is two rookies in this fight. Nakamura for trying to take down a Gracie lol. He DEFF shows potential here, good reflexes, a decent in and out on jabs. A GREAT takedown i have to admit. Never seen a takedown kind of slidin sideways. That was impressive. And 2nd the narrator/creator of this video. One saying shinsuke looks unimpressive is meaningless. Heard of roy nelson? Heard of tai tuivasa? Tyson fury? Mark hunt? All top notch fighters in arguably top notch shape, but also carrying fat. Not only does it prove to help them absorb impact at times, but their cardio doesnt sacrifice skill too much. Second. Saying shinsuke was unimpressive is dumb. He took down a gracie, was winning on his feet, and showed heart even tho he was cut. Shinsuke deff showed potential and toughness, lets keep in mind Gracies experience goes far beyond whats on paper. I mean his family invented jiu jitsu…… make no mistakes. And last but not least with that said. We now know shinsuke had his time divided and wasnt fully invested in mma which makes my first two points even better. Make no mistakes about it if shinsuke would have gone for mma with a hundred percent dedication, im not saying he would or wouldnt have made it ufc. But i can definitely see him being champion in a bellator or strikeforce. I digress

I will have two questions 1- there are many wrestlers who do both pro wrestling and mma how would you rank them from worst to best shinsuke nakamura, Matt riddle, suzuki, dan severn, Ken shamrock, Bobby lashley and Brock Lesnar ( resume, achievements and skillset) 2- what if brock lesnar had started his mma career early (1997-2002) especially pre usada era under elite coaches and camps, how would he have the potential became to be a top 5-10 heavyweight or goat material?

Nakamura had an amateur wrestling background which is why his shoots were actually pretty smooth and he's a purple belt in BJJ. Obviously his striking needed improving and his entries for takedowns could be disguised better with strikes but overall for just a few fights I think he's impressive, I think if he kept going he wouldn't have been a world beater but could have definitely got some more wins. I believe he beats many pro wrestlers past and present.
