Had a two level C4 to C6 done in May 2014, not a single complaint and still skiing hard!

A lot of people on here asking about this. I'll be direct with this. It works for some, it doesn't work for some. Mobi-C is one of the 2 discs prone to the most failures. Mine failed after a surgery at UOA at C3-C4. I consider the surgery a success since I am not really in a lot of actual pain compared to prior before surgery. The placement wasn't perfect but it was good and the endplates never migrated. The issue I am having is the center core migrated. A common issue with Mobi-C. Thus creating more hypermobility and cervical instability. I still can't get out to do the things I love to do because of this (this includes being in a car). Please note my case was already difficult, with a fusion already in me, and I opted to go through with this as an alternative to an extended fusion. Unfortunately many surgeons I have spoke to this year all agree, Mobi-C wasn't for me and this failed at the 3 month mark, something that UOA told me "It was jus a bad X-Ray" when I pointed out the horrible x-ray. Even the center for Artificial Disc Replacements has my case listed as failed because of this. The surgeons believe ProDisc would have been the way to go and still think it's a risk worth taking over an extended fusion. Unfortunately UOA seems to only support Mobi-C and now, looks like Simplify (which again, is a very mobile disc, and probably not for me, as I was never facing a mobility issue to begin with, but many people are having tons of success with it). I do encourage many to do their own research though and not be swayed away. I was honestly reluctant when I heard Mobi-C because of the reported failure rates but still took the chance. I will say this, the doctor's care and concern was at least top notch at UOA. As was the time spent at the hospital. I only wish UOA offered more options with ADR, because I would have taken something like ProDisc easily by any of their spine surgeons. Ok, this was a long comment and I hope people find it informative in making their choices!

3 weeks post op. Bi-level. So far so good.

Had my C5-6 replaced w/Mobi-c in Nov. 6mos later, I haven't felt this good in YEARS. Went skiing at 14 weeks, had a great season. Another surgeon said to fuse -- so glad I didn't. I go for 6 mo. check in 2 weeks. 🤞
