These last few months have been so busy with moving and remodeling our new to us home. We were in a crunch to get it done before winter, we needed to have it warm and cozy for the winter months ahead. It was a LOT of work, but so worth it!

Hello dear friends! Here is a glimpse of our crazy last four months remodeling our home and trying to get it ready before winter hits. I say it a lot in this video, but it was a TON of work! But so worth it :) We basically camped in the house for the last few months, but we are now cozy and just in the finish work stage. Have lots more videos already filmed, we are just in the editing stage right now. Cozy Christmas content coming too. Thank you for being so patient with our slow uploading these last few months. Wow, that would have been quite the journey, moving and break downs and heat. Ive definitely been in a similar situation. I love that you were able to film through all the tiring and hard times. The house already looks amazing. Such hard workers . Shipping containers are our best friends too. Because a few of our kids don't handle changes well, we've always just fixed whats immediately broken and set their rooms up how they like and just moved right in. I'd so love to have gotten straight into renovating here but when I look at our huge projects we've completed already, some being completed now and list of soon projects, I know we'll get there . One thing I intended to do the week we moved in was paint over these horrible yellow , broken kitchen cupboards . I still haven't, we cook too many times a day here . I'm determined to do it though. Thank you for taking us along and showing what you've been up too. I missed you all so much my friends. I'm really glad you're settled in before winter . Love to you all sweethearts 🥰🥰

@@countrymousesfarmhouse497 I hope you can squeeze some time in to get those cabinets painted, it’s such a hard thing to do when you cook full time like we do! We just barely got our house finished enough for winter! As I type this we have snow dumping outside 🥶❄️😂 I always feel like I’m talking to a sister or kindred spirit when we get to chat, I miss or IG messaging. Lots of love to you all sweet friend!

Welcome to Michigan!! I owned a home with the same wallpaper, carpet, counters and counter-top. I loved the look of the windows but they were the worst for keeping out the bitter cold that comes with our winters. Hot tip....make SURE you educate the entire family about the dangers of our great lakes, especially rip currents that take so many lives each year. Piers are especially dangerous...3-5 foot waves that slam into you every 2-3 seconds can be deadly. I've lived here my entire life. Michigan has it all but it can be a very dangerous place both on land (critters of the woods) and in the water. Personally I think every high school in the state should teach a mandatory course on how not to die while enjoying this beautiful place...lol. I wish you the very best!!👍👍👍

When my parents family moved to Oregon we had a wringer washer in the yard for laundry and a clothesline. I enjoyed it, surprising for a 16 yo. All your meals looked hearty, tasty & fresh. Welcome to Michigan - depending on where you are - depends on how much snow, how cold you get. I live in the center - it is like a valley - places in all directions get lake effect snow or colder weather.

You have done so much already. What a drive as well! The van issue! I love the UP. You should visit The Lake of the Clouds in Porcupine Mountains park. Also very nice antique shop in Ironwood MI snd Stormy Kromer hats are made there. Lake Superior is my favorite! I can’t wait for you to show everyone the beauty that is now your home. Wow, all that work into a 38 minute video! I can feel my muscles ache for y’all and almost taste the Sheetrock dust. 🥰 I’m glad you enjoyed the video, living slow takes practice. I often say it not that slow living is SLOW it’s that you are taking time to live intentionally. It’s hard thing to do on our culture of fast pace, but you can do it ❤️ Start small.

Moving is SO much work. Great job! My husband is military and we always move ourselves. We have a move coming up this summer from Alaska to who knows where (hopefully finding out soon), and I am already contemplating how we will fit everything in our uhaul. It was packed to the brim on our move up here and we have since added another baby and plenty of stuff 😆

If I at ask you, what area are you in. We went to Chassell , Copper Country, MI Technical University, Lake Linden. Our family lived there. Lake Superior was always so cold. We would see snow in June. We normally went in January or February for a couple weeks. The most beautiful land. I loved how we drove THROUGH the town of CHRISTMAS and Florida. Where the snow would be right up to the sign of Florida.

Welcome to Michigan! I did many cross country moves growing up. As an adult I have done several home makeovers/flips. 1 single wide and 1 dbl wide, plus cottages and homes. I moved into the city to care for a family member and to be close to medical care. We made over a mid-century ranch in the city on the river in Grand Rapids. Do miss the country but for this phase of our lives this works best. Looking forward to your videos. Don't you love the Great Lakes? Wait for the festival season. So much to enjoy. So many in MI. I moved from ID as a 9 year old to Michigan where I live now. Crazy. My friend lives up there in rapid river. We have spent many months updating our double wide (same busy wallpaper as in your house there) and have just moved ourselves. Haven't gotten back to getting videos out yet. Still unpacking and making this home feel like ours. Best wishes to you and beautiful videos.

Although you've had a few hiccups making this move, I'm sure you and your family will appreciate it so much more once the house is all done and you're settled in. I'm sorry your car broke down but at least you had your family to go thru it together 🥰 Seeing your husband and son working on the sheet rocks brings back so much memories of when I've had to patch them up and sand them down. It was so much work 😭 But I was sooo happy with the results and I know you guys are too ♥️

Amazing! Michigan seems such a huge departure from the West, but how beautiful your location is! I assume you have a support system in p!ace with such a change. Guess I'm wondering if you all are homesick for the mountains ( and Johanna...didn't see her in the video😥). I love that “ Northland “ we do have some friends here and I will share more on why we moved here in a future video. But My oldest son and my oldest daughter ( Johanna) stayed in Idaho. I miss them like crazy but Johanna has already flown out for 21 days and is due for Christmas any day 🙌🥰❤️ I totally miss my mountains, I always will. But what I know in my heart is that is this is where we are supposed to be right now. ❤️

Hello from Oklahoma! I just found your vlog. Moving from the west to the U.P. I love Lake Superior, I haven't been back to see her in over 40 years. I was born in Marquette, and have travelled most of my life. Our last move was for my husband's job. His job brought us to central Oklahoma. Where we purchased 20 acres with an old farm house. Like you, we have plenty remodeling / work, and setting up the property to make for a comfortable farm/homestead. I look foward to following you, and your family in your new home.

I am 43 years old. I grew up homeschooled and helped my parents build our homestead when I was a teenager. We still work on it as a family. Love it. My Mama has had a ringer type washer always in fact she has two that we put in the canning kitchen and used still till this day. Good luck on your new journey with your family.

My heart is with you. We are in the middle of the same thing. We sold our home of 25 yrs in town and bought acreage with a smaller fixer upper. When we started the demo it reveals layers of neglect and having been built in the 70’s nothing is to code. My husband is doing most the work himself with help from me and occasionally adult kids so it will be a slow process but I know when it’s all said and done we’ll love the result. This will be our home where we can age in place.

We sold our house in Nampa Idaho a few yrs ago and bought 5 acres in ky, that trip was a adventure for us too.... our totally loaded (and pulling my husband's jeep also) penske truck broke down in rush hour on a 2 lane bridge! My husband and son were stuck and he called me crying (I was ahead a few minutes) luckily penskee fixed it and got us a nice hotel for the night. We eventually made it there but ended up not liking ky at all or the people, so we sold and we just closed on a house on 5 acres in Florida lol, I love it so much more. We are gypsy souls we love to move and try new things. Idaho was my absolute favorite place ever, we have lived all over but idaho was the only place that felt like home, but it really went down hill the last 5 yrs after the California boom. Makes me sad. Loving your videos very relaxing and inspiring. Our new home is a 5 bedroom 3 bath modular and I love new ideas for fixing it up
