Although this isn't as nice a song as some of the others, there's no such thing as a bad Keaggy song. Enjoy.

That's amazing! I had breakfast with him! No kidding! It was just him and me in a big kitchen in a big restored barn called "Love Inn" in Freeville, NY. He didn't seem like a star at all. If I hadn't known who he was when we met (we were teen hippies that had hitchhiked into this town), he wouldn't have told us.. He just said "I'm Phil, are you hungry?" Another guy was talking to my friend so it was just Phil and I making PB&J. Phil is real and very humble.

This song made me feel and reminisce about my 28 day journey hitchhiking across America. It was beautiful in Jesus 1973.

The love inn is still there. Very different and by a different name. But the building is still a church. Been there many times

Before we married, my husband & I used to listen to PK in 1982 while driving around Central PA. This song is so beautiful that it brought me to tears. Thank you, Phil, for despising the riches of the world, and counting the Cross a far greater glory. Found this video mix through listening to Dave Beedle, who I heard on Pandora. God Bless.

He said no Keaggy song is bad. It's okay to say some songs are weaker then others. All bands suffer this.

From one of my top ten albums of all time - well, since the 60s anyway. He remains one of my two favourite guitarists (Steve Hackett). Not only does he have great technique, his prolific compositional output has a seam of beauty right through it.

Phil has much work that is soft and subtle like this beautiful one. You may listen to it one time and think it is nothing special. Listen to this one when you are in the right frame of mind and relaxation and you will be able to best appreciate it's flowing brilliance. 5/5 Stars any way you look at it IMHO.

One of THE greatest guitarists of our times. Such a humble man. Phil is one of those who should be held up as a model for our youth. I will never forget being 20 feet in front of him in 1985. Phil, an acoustic and one electric and a Galien-Kruegar small amp with Mic going through the excellent board provided by the host.

@wileypayote , That song is great, I remember the first time I heard it was through an audio clip he had recorded for LR Baggs. He noodled for 6 or so minutes. I'm 22 now, I was about 15 at the time and without money or much access to music, I held onto that clip for dear life. Anywho, part of it was the Castles Call part where it sounds like he's playing 2 separate parts at once. I told myself, "if I can learn that I'd be the best!". Well, I learned it haha, and I'm not the best :-)

I also think this is a real gem. He definitely occupies a unique niche. There are lots of great acoustic players and great electric players, but few master each genre to the point he has. Some of electric playing he did in the 60's and 70's was light years ahead of others. Then he did "What a Day" which was a one man tour de force! " Master and the Musician" has some phenomenal songs.His sideman work was great. Listen to Paul Clark's Good to Be Home (on Spotify). Also, many more.

The tuning is EG#EG#BC#. This song is relatively easy to learn compared to other Phil, it's just getting the style and feel down that's tough. This song touched me the most off anything on Beyond Nature. It may not hold up to March of the Clouds but I would put this in my Top10 instrumental-wise. Absolute brilliance

There's also more to music than whether or not it impresses. It's very tempting to try and impress all the time, rather than focus on making music that more or less accurately expresses ideas, feelings, etc. Keaggy actually said (I think in one of his music books, Acoustic Solos, or something similar) that he didn't feel anything he did was completely original. There are people who invent stories, and there are people who can tell them well.

magic is ancient sin. "For they have not repented of their magical arts." Meaning if we've committed one sin we've committed a whole slew of sins. i repent i my magical arts. Biblically stated. Bless The One True Immanu'El.
@kanteannightmare6 жыл бұрын
Bradley Hauf it's not the magic in of itself, it's the lack of trust in God that lead one too seek the power in magic that is the sin. It's why Christ said," anyone who is angry with his brother has already committed murder in his heart..." Sin is so much more than the actual we commit.

Personally, I also want to try and move away from the drive to rate people as good or better (hard as this is to do), and try to listen to what others have to say musically--some real gems can come from what we may have thought were unlikely places.
