Russia's first mobilization since WWII has sparked protests and led to the mass exodus of men avoiding the draft. However, the country's recruiting campaign is far from failure as enlistment centers work around the clock to call up some 300,000 reservists needed to beef up Russia's forces in Ukraine. I visited a draft office in Moscow and spoke with young guys who decided to stay and join Russia's war effort

In the 60’s in America we had the Vietnam war ! I enlisted and I understand how the gentleman you interviewed feel ! I just want to say as an American I am not at war with Russia! Thank you, man from the other hemisphere. I am from Russia and many of my friends were called for this nonsense. I dissuaded them, but they considered me soft-bodied. Russian people are very harsh and stupid. But I am sure that very soon they will see the light and realize that they have done something stupid. Still, our culture is essentially Western and I am sure that we will return to our roots. Death to tyrants, freedom to the people.

@Yvonne Bowe What does that have to do with my comment? Here in the US we do not get the level of reporting from inside Russia that was presented in this video. We mostly get just what the major media want us to see. As for conscription in the US, every male over age 18 is required by Federal law to be registered for Selective Service (the 'Draft'), and during a major war, Congress could easily re-start conscription. But that has little to do with what I said in my comment.

Yes, they have been talking about the situation in this country for 12-15 years, they legally sell Nazi orders, medals, uniforms right in the markets, there are more than 5-6 Nazi battalions that freely travel around the country with Fascist flags. On May 9, veterans began to be banned from walking, St. George ribbons, orders are being torn off, monuments to Soviet soldiers are being demolished. They trample the flag of the victory banner, put up monuments to those who fought on the side of the fascists, Shukhevych, Bandera, call streets in their names, hold torchlight processions. Children are taught from textbooks that Russia is the enemy, they rewrite history so that Russia looks guilty there. In 14, more than 50 people were burned alive in a 4-storey building in Odessa, they were fans of Nazi formations, those who jumped out of windows were finished off with sticks and metal rods, and the police did not react to this, even the firefighters arrived an hour later, it would seem it was in the city center. Don't they show it to you, don't they tell the media?

Suspend your bias for a moment and listen to what the lawyer guy is saying. if you think that the feelings, he carries in his heart are any different from a guy who enlisted after 911 or a kid in the Midwest training to join the army... well you really have to check your bias. Ukrainians cannot be compared with Afghans or Muslims. Ukraine is the second most powerful country in the USSR (the same USSR that controlled half of the planet). Ukrainians are 18% of the USSR. The country is strong, with great potential. Corruption and lawlessness have ravaged its economy over the past 30 years, but even so, they are hard to beat. They are ready to sacrifice themselves to the last - this is a big problem. These sacrifices are absolutely meaningless. There is a big nationalism here in Russia. I am a Brazilian here. When I suggest to one of my friends to spend some time in Brazil untill things cool down he got angry at me. Their families are here, their grand fathers had fight in WWII when 27 million sovietic ppl die. So my friend and many others are ready to fight and think that runing away from their duty is really shamefull.

That's incredible! what's even more amazing is that this one single warmonger (WAMO! for short) has managed to make Ukraine "decline" Russia's peace offerings for eight years, a span of three American presidencies, four British PMs (and counting since Truss is heading out of office) and two Ukrainian presidencies. An individual with such great and subtle power over Ukraine's diplomatic policy which has lasted in spite of so many regime changes while remaining known to the common men like you and myself as simply "the warmonger" must surely be among history's greatest statesmen. So refreshing compared to the videos ive been seeing in Ukraine where they chase their conscipts at rail stations, or grab them in the streets and push them in a van. These days they are driving around in ambulances instead of vans so as not to alarm the public as they scout around.

Independent reporter? 🤣 You can obviously see that he was allowed to film there, because it was a mobilization point for volunteers. Not sure if Russia paid him, but this report is not the reality we see from other Russian mobilized soldiers. This is just another onesided story to spread Russian "well organized" mobilization. Read between the lines and you can hear, what he aims at.

Может конечно экипировка сменилась, но то снаряжение которое мне выдавалось при поступлении на службу было достаточно надежное и некоторые вещи иногда ношу для работы на даче или в гараже спустя более чем 10 лет, а берцы которые мне выдавали по истечению срока службы я еще оставил товарищу у которого они получили механическое повреждение. И главное они не промокали и были достаточно хорошего качества, служил не в самых простых климатических условиях и намотал не менее 10 тыс. км...

You won't get unbiased returning soldier interviews as they are too afraid to speak the truth and frankly quite a number have committed crimes. For something closer to the truth I'd recommend Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Zolkin (on KZfaq) he tracks down dead soldiers and interviews POWs (not an interrogation), they are free to say whatever they want, he records the session, they get a phone call home and with their permission uploads the vid to a public Telegram site so family and friends can see how they are doing. This also proves that they are a POW as often the military drags their feet as POWs families receive a benefit but not if you are deemed MIA. This is also sadly why they are extremely slow to pick up their dead too 😕

I am a Norwegian and 58 years old, so i am not exactly the best soldier for Russia to use. But if there was a easy way for me to move to Russia and do work in some of their factories that suffer from lack of manpower because of the mobilization and i could be sure to have a place to stay when i was there, i would do so. As i see it Russia and China is the only sensible great powers that is left now, the true axis of evil(USA, England and France) have gone completely insane in so many ways now. EU actually just proposed a new law where it shall be forbidden to not hate Russia (or to be pro Russian as they put it...) But i will be pro Russia even if they send me to prison for it. I hope the best for every single Russian that now fight against the American attack in Ukraine. Most of us know about the history of The Cuba Crisis and how the US reacted to that. Since that US have created their own version of The Cuba Crisis again and again. The Cuba Crisis 02 with Norway in to NATO.. The Cuba Crisis 03 with Estonia The Cuba Crisis 04 with Latvia The Cuba Crisis 05 with Lithuania The Cuba Crisis 06 with Finland The Cuba Crisis 07 with Sweden The Cuba Crisis 08 with Ukraine and so on. And in their insane minds they still expect Russia and China to respect their Monroe Doctrine that was made so other countries should respect USA`s right to do as they want with countries in the western hemisphere.. To be clear, if Norway and Russia end up in a war because of US, i will fight together with the Russians, if i am fit as a soldier or not, simply because it is clear who is the good and who is the bad.

У меня с работы пошел добровольцем в военкомат, раньше воевал на Донбассе, опыта миллион. В общем его развернули, сказали не нужен, а потом через неделю пришла повестка, кто то откосил и его внесли в списки. Ушел воевать. Отличный парень был, не знаю что с ним, с работы я уволился в декабре. Но на работе место за ним сохранили если вернется

Well I know Americans that have PTSD as well we're not Superior you know. A lot of our soldiers naively marched into Vietnam, Afghanistan you name it and it was a disaster for us. Stop believing East and West government propaganda and focus on the real enemy which is the government. Do not allow the government to tell you who the enemy is. The exact same is true for all Ukrainians. Human pain, suffering, disfigurement, and death, is more important than nationality. I'm completely blown away with a guy that was a lawyer. Does he really think somebody wants to invade russia. All the reading he said he has done he obviously is done very little to read anything outside of Russian literature. I'd love to see an interview with them after he returns or goes to fight and realizes the rules that his government has put before them.

awesome job showing what they're feeling and going thru mentally. Another thing I would like to see is mobilization centers in more rural towns , other ethnic people in rural Russia and what they're feeling and going thru at these mobilization centers .

My second cousin lived in the village. In 99% of cases, men are ready to go to war, although it is very scary. Some who enlisted with my brother are already, unfortunately, dead. The motivation is basically the same - Russia is threatened, the war needs to be won. At the same time, most of them treat Ukrainians well, they just think that they went the wrong way.

Maybe the mobilization is conscription, but in order not to go there, you just had to not go, no matter how ridiculous it sounds. My friends and I don't want to go and we just didn't go to the military enlistment office, we didn't get a summons. If you refuse the summons, then you will have a maximum fine of $ 50. Therefore, I worry about my brother, but I respect his choice.

У меня очень близкий друг 40 лет. Прошел вторую Чеченскую компанию. Сейчас есть жена, дети и собака. Все не мог попасть в добровольцы, под мобилизацию не попал, но в итоге уговорил начальника военкомата записать его в мобилизованные. Ибо понимает, что его уникальный опыт Чечни поможет молодым. Сейчас на Украине воюет. Службой доволен. 9: 30 абсолютно верно сказано про крыс.

Взяла с него обещание убивать всех подряд и в плен не брать)) Так что сейчас в бахмуте земельку удобряют твои усраинские соседи. В Макеевском ПТУ тоже наверняка были чмобики с уникальным опытом войны в Чечне только этот опыт им не помог. Война в Украине и в Чечне это разные вещи. Вся Чечня 2 раза поместиться на территории Харьковской области. У чеченских ополченцев не было такого оружия и таких возможностей которые есть у ВСУ. У чеченцев вообще не было никаких самолетов и было всего пару десятков танков.

Russia and Ukraine had a peace deal in late March. In early April UK PM Boris Johnson flew to Kiev to order his puppet Zelensky to kill the deal and end all negotiations. Now the US is approaching Mid-Term elections it seems we are finally hearing a change of tone from Biden admin, unless it is just a con for votes and then they'll go back to the same war policy. It was after all Biden who started the Donbass War in 2014 when he was VP.
