MOC: Makuta the Martyr [Lego Rebrick Contest]

This is my entry for the Lego Rebrick "Show us Your Makuta" contest. My version of Makuta focuses less on the “pure evil” stereotype and instead concentrates on Makuta’s own self image. Makuta perceives himself as Okoto’s only path to salvation. A salvation that would be lost if the villagers continued to follow the conventional wisdoms of his self-righteous brother Ekimu. This MOC is what Makuta had aspired to become, had pride and ambition not morphed his realities, leading him down a dark path that he could never walk back from.

Oh my god I love digitigrade legs on massive MOCs. The use of a Creature of Earth head as a helmet is inspired. I know that this is to do with the spiked-sun silhouette and all the gold pieces, but I think his whole MOC gives off a really strong Deva or Asura-esque vibe.

Lego is releasing instructions for their makuta. You need seven sets, Umerak the hunter, Umerak the destroyer, Ekimu Vs skull grinder, Lord of skull spiders, Uniter Tahu, Uniter Onua, and the creature of fire.

Wow...Astonishing! This Makuta merges several recognizable aspects from other official sets and yet he still menages to stand on its own, the concept behind it is very original too! You truly deserve to win pal, beside that I would love to see this Makuta alongside Stipahlu, just for comparison.

Ah yeah I'm not verified yet so you have to log in with a Lego account. No worries. Yeah I definitely took some General Grevious inspiration. I would be foolish not to look at the largest CCBS MOC when starting my build. Custom legs are probably the hardest thing to build effectively at this scale. He still is a bit too heavy for the legs.

+JPRedmanqueiroz There were some great entries. It would have been nice to have been recognized by Lego, but there were a lot of great entries that also shared in defeat with me. I was fortunate enough to have great success with the views on my video, so I can't call it a complete loss. Thanks for your support though. It's great to know others would have picked mine.

I wish you luck Stipp, i myself entered with Nibiru Makuta and after entering him i set out to rebuild his legs because i wanted to get a knight feel to the lower half. (plus the MOC i entered plays two roles)

It's mainly the bent-over-ness that makes them similar. While yours is most likely better than mine, I can't help seeing that they have almost the entirely concepts. You just executed your ideas better. If you want some ideas for next time, let the legs not have to bend so much and the covering on the bottom part of the gearbox looks strange. Other then that (very little) con, this is probably the winner. I think the winner receives an Email but I'm not sure.
