I totally botched this stinging nettle. I'm uploading this so you can get a good laugh, and learn from my mistake! Lazy Day by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons

That's crazy! I could have sworn the folks on Alone boiled it. If it makes you feel better, I almost tried to cook an invasive lantana because I thought it was a type of nettle here in Florida. It's poisonous! :)

+Practice Hospitality good job on not poisoning yourself 😜 it could be that they didn't boil it for twenty minutes like I did. Maybe they boiled it for thirty seconds? Thanks for watching!!

You short boil (just a few minutes) them, then dump that water, then fry in bacon drippins and you'll see a big difference in the taste. It's normally not eaten by itself unless you're used to it as it is an aquired taste. Just make sure to do the short boil (& you don't need much water for that) 1st to get rid of the toxins and the sulpherish smell/taste. Hope this helps, and you did a great job on the vid. Please keep up the good work. 'stay safe keep warm have fun & whittle to keep your sanity' ol greybeard dino ; - )>>

Thanks for the advice. I bet you're right. I'm hoping to give it another shot on my next Mock Bugout!

Learning Self-Reliance I used to live in the pacific northwest where nettles & fiddle head fern are in vaste quanities. So it would be part of the camp stew pot quite often too. It does make a good nutritional addition to the long term diet and a good filler for the short term. ; - )>>

I've always wanted to try Fiddle Head Fern. I'm not sure if I could find any in Utah. A bit dry here!
