Would you say this is kind of a twist on the ToneX box ?

Something can't really be a twist of something that came out after it. Feature-wise, it can do much more than the ToneX. I'd guess the ToneX may have better amp sim quality, but I don't actually know.

The Dwarf has an amp profile player. Probably not quite as good as the Tone-X (though whether you'd hear a difference...). But the difference is: that's less than 1% of what the Dwarf does. It can do reverb impulse responses which almost no other pedals do. It runs virtual instruments. You can stack the whackiest 3rd party effects in basically any order in two completely distinct channels (so that you could run them separately if you like on two different instruments). It's not ideal if you _just_ want an amp profiler or _just_ want some basic sims of famous guitar pedals. But it's a whole lot more versatile than any of that and can do a lot of things none of those others can. Plus... long reverb IRs make also make it the best reverb pedal in existence just as a bonus.

I’d go for the Tonex! These people refuse to send me the item I purchased to help get this project off the ground through kickstarter. It’s been three years and I still haven’t received it! That’s what this company thinks of their backers. Wonder how they look at their customers?

I know you’re probably going to react negatively but I bought the $150 plug-in credit to get my Kickstarter unit and I do not regret it at all. I would have bought that much worth of plug-ins over the course of a year or two anyway. They had a rough go with how everything played out with the lockdowns, but I think the concept is brilliant and I want this company to survive and thrive-they just don’t have Yamaha-level resources that Line 6 does.
