Agreed, the better lighting really brings out the details in this game to shine, like textures and material quality. Fortunately the latest version of this mod improves quite a bit on it. Might make an updated video later

In case you didn't know Nvidia has a tool called RTX remix which adds path tracing with to games and they're working very hard to bring it to DirectX 10,11 and 12.

Not sure if it is the KZfaq video quality in my phone or the path tracing noise doesn’t seem to be an issue here. Did you do anything to denoise?

Nothing apart from setting samples per pixels to the max of 4. The noise is quite visible when actually playing, mostly in indirectly lit areas. I hope someone figures out how to denoise with ray reconstruction. That'd be sick

I played and recorded in HDR so it looks worse on KZfaq than it did ingame, but I think there are some post processing settings that can tone down the overly bright whites. I need to look into the settings some more. There's a ton

No, this is the previous version, just set samples per pixel to 4, which is very performance heavy. I gotta check out the latest version, thanks for the info :)

I'm more GPU bound with path tracing especially with 4 samples per pixel which makes sense. I also have a mod that increased the NPC limit, so there's less pop in. That mod does increase CPU usage.

path tracing is all about GPU (whereas vanilla city performance is heavily tied to CPU).

It's the nature of Path Tracing without a denoiser. If someone gets ray reconstruction denoiser working in this game somehow, that'd do wonders.

It's not denoised i think pathtracing is too demanding to run at full denoised and clean even on a 4090.

The overly bright image looks worse on KZfaq because the gameplay was recorded with HDR. In-game the highlights were not clipping, but I agree that it's too bright. That's because this mod is still in alpha and the post processing brightness was not properly adjusted to path tracing lighting. Newer versions of this mod look better in this regard.
