I think the only way cyberpsychosis can really work would be to have auto attacking. eg. video game 'Haze' when overdosing on the drug Nectar. All people, enemies and friends would become a silhouette all your weapons would keep firing with the trigger held down. You had 'some' control but also no control. At least that is how I would do it.

I always hoped CDPR would add something similar to the Bliss effects in Far Cry 5. Imagine seeing civilians randomly pull out a gun and aim it at you only for it to glitch and realize it was your psychosis. Some enemies can appear as something weird like seeing Judy in the Maelstrom club, being confused only for it to go to normal where its just a maelstrom member. Maybe even have people act hostile that usually wouldn't because supposedly you look unhinged that they get intimidated.

bro this is genius, having civilians randomly become hostile just for it to flash back to them being terrified would be such a good way to implement this concept. I think if they implement it, it should be done in a way that doesn't nerf the player, just make everything really weird and trippy. (also max tac should be sent after you relentlessly so it has some sort of draw back)

My only reference is CP2020, and as far as I know, Humanity Loss only matters upon part installation, not mod usage. Perhaps the cost also applies to usage, but CP2020 is over 30 years old now, and I didn't try CPRed, yet, so the usage cost could be a modern addition. It is true, however, that the costs can add up quickly, mainly if you dump the Empathy stat (Humanity is 10x the Empathy stat, so any point you detract from it is 10 points less in Humanity available).

I think hallucinations would be important. Like a civilian can look like an alerted enemy, you'd hear offscreen gunshots that aren't there, causing you to turn around. Regular cars could at times appear like a cop car with their sirens on. None of the actual behavior of the npcs would change, but the hallucinations might convince you that you are in a fight, causing you to pull out your gun and get ready to start shooting people.. The game should also make it so if you hold out your gun, people get scared and call the cops.
@nohooligans888
@nohooligans888 Жыл бұрын
That does happen, or at least the game says it will but I’ve never had it trigger. So as long as they could make it so you saw hallucinations convincing enough to get the player to get there gun out and start shooting, the game would cause the police to arrive anyway. The rate would have to be increased quite a bit I think though, shouldn’t even give you one star, take you straight to 2 or 3 as a result of you visibly being a cyberpsycho to onlookers.

Suggestions for the mod author: Cyberpsychosis should have 3 effects: 1. You can control your movement, but not the speed you move at(or vice versa) 2. You can control your aiming, but it will consistently magnetize towards the nearest target, friendly, civilian, cop, whatever, and fire automatically when your reticle is red 3. Friendly units take damage and can be kill(I’m okay with this ending friendly quest lines prematurely if it doesn’t soft-lock the game)
@chrispekel5709
@chrispekel5709 Жыл бұрын
That would break the game. They are good suggestions but hard to implement as the game wasn't designed from the ground up for this
@14megasxlr
@14megasxlr Жыл бұрын
@@chrispekel5709 doesn’t have to be “designed from the ground up” for a function to be viable. you say that, but neither were flying vehicles, a grappling hook, and an entire drone deployment system, yet all of those work pretty much perfectly with the game and other mods can adjust balance heavily. Much of what I’ve describe is stuff that, I’m more than confident can definitely be made using just was available in game. Movement adjustment isn’t even hard, I’ve done it before, aim camera forcing, aim assist, and red reticle are already elements of the game(I’d have to research more to be certain, but it might be possible to adjust them with scripts. I’ve seen other mods adjust camera functions somewhat and theres already a camera centering function, so I doubt it’s impossible to come up with a script that can manipulate that alongside maybe the aiming functionality of Smart weapons to target anything in your FOV, auto firing is already applied to at least one weapon in the game, and editing Friendly fire settings is likely the easiest thing to do that I’ve suggested. Believe me, you really just don’t know. The only thing that doesn’t seem possible yet are quest mods. A few have tried and are doing a bunch of research, but it’s not quite there yet. Only thing that would really “break” the game is getting soft-locked out of a quest or hard locked out of progress because an important character died. But honestly, this is just the more fun/difficult idea. This idea also comes with the gameplay bonus that, if you’re in Cyberpsycho mode, it’ll actually HELP you kill enemies you actually want to, so you can use it tactically. The EASIER idea for this would be to just spawn an NPC copy of V and set the FPP camera into it, but that’d just be boring. Basically watching an NPC fight: V vs MaxTac.

I feel like cyber psychosis should give a good split of buffs and debuffs, considering the fact all the psychosis would change is your ability to think straight. For an example a boost in speed and strength, while you get tunnel vision and lower control response times. It should instantly get max tack involved, and all entities are changed to look like aggressors (for example a faceless dummy aiming at the protagonists as if it were an enemy, weather it was an enemy or a bystander). The effects definitely shouldn’t be an hour long, maybe 3-5 minutes max and duration extends when killing unarmed civilians (that would be incomparable to the actual aggressors giving a slight challenge to ending the effects). And immunoblockers should be more accessible and have a shorter effect, mainly used as a canceling effect or at the very least block the reapplication and buildup of additional time in the state of cyberpsychosis. But that’s my opinion.

I love how it was in VtM:B. Low humanity and hunger = frenzy where you lose control over your character while it tries to feed on someone, any chance it gets. Let's say when humanity in CP 2077 drops to zero, you lose control too and start killing everyone around you while Relic chip starts repairing your mind. Not overusing cyberware and not killing innocents lowers the chance to fall into cyberpsychosis significantly.

After playing RDR2, I wished more games played with the idea of illnesses. Without spoiling anything, at the later chapters of the game, something happens that causes the PC to not regain as much health from items/food in the game, which added a layer of difficulty by having to manage what items to use and when. Your stamina would drain more rapidly and your character had a harder time maintaining a healthy weight. But the best part, and something I hope the next Cyberpunk game adds, is the fact that everyone around you reacts to your illness, often making comments as you walk around town.

I think cyberpsychosis should work how the visual gameplay worked in Kane and Lynch where as playing as Lynch civilians would begin to appear as enemies they wouldn’t attack but they’re model looks like enemies also i would add that psychosis adds some buffs but will be balanced by also having some negatives like extra strength, slowdown time, some skills, new animations or new abilities that are more brutal but every time you use the cybernetics while in psychosis a huge chunk of health is taken away or the duration of health depletion increases and depending on what difficulty your playing on that could mean sudden death
@zhengwenyu1587

I think a neat idea would be if you sleep with your romanced partners, your humanity strengthens, and your progression into cyberpsychosis reduces, a reference to how Lucy was able to bring David back to his senses temporarily in the final episode. Another neat idea is that if you become a cyberpsycho, you cannot accept any main/side/gig quests, interact with vendors, or contact anyone until you use a neuroblocker. I heard that the reason why V does not fall into cyberpsychosis is because he has Johnny to keep him from losing himself. So I guess with this mod, we can rephrase it as V can still fall victim to cyberpsychosis, but can regain his sanity faster thanks to Johnny's presence.

So, this mod to me is essential (and I haven't even used it) it provides a game play loop to return to your apartment and actually rest. Base game just gives you an hour long health and XP boost, which whilst nice isn't anything to write home about. To me this is the stick, and the health and XP boost the carrot. Incentives people. Amazing work to the modder, I can only hope that if at all possible different effects are possible, for example; erratic gun fire when your under the influence, enemies spawning next to you as whilst under CP's effects makes you see as everything as an enemy and these enemies some times do and don't do damage because they're sometimes real and not real. Boosts to health and damage so it's not all negative as now you don't fear death and enjoy the blood lust. Varying visual effects, like the tunnel vision whilst crouched or when you take drugs or alcohol etc. Again, amazing work.

Great mod and keeps some the ridiculous OP aspects of this game somewhat in check. Cyberpsychosis is such an integral part of the tabletop that it was crazy that the humanity system was abandoned at all. What would also raise the stakes is the danger of permanent psychosis as well as it is in the lore; a game-over scenario if you continue to push it but obviously with modifiers to suit a playstyle and experience.

@bruhtholemew

@@subjectdelta17 I think originally the humanity system was going to be in it, but as time went on it made no sense that the biochip and Johnny weren't affected. Think about it, if V went cyberpsycho wouldn't Johnny too? Would Johnny just silently watch V go crazy, or would he randomly appear shouting obscenities? Wouldn't the biochip make V more vulnerable to cyberpsychosis as well considering it's messing with his mind? It just sounds too complicated, and I imagine systems like this mod were tested but play tests just resulted in people reloading saves or hiding in a corner.

Lol, I have plans to make a mod on Cyberpsychosis too! But Ipm fully occupied with school and with my bachelors, so it's gonna take a while sadly.... My mod has a similar idea on losing humanity points: you loose points by killing and using cyberware, and the more you install the faster it goes down. It would also have stages, like the first cyberware you install will give you extra bonuses, so you are encouraged to install more, and only then you start to see negative effects. But besides that, I also have a few extra ideas, like including new gameplay opportunities, affecting player choice and much more (I don't want to spoil it though). I still don't know if it's possible with the current state of mods, but with the stuff this wonderful community already created I'm really hopeful I can pull it off too!

I think a way cyberpsychosis can be properly implemented is when we’re in cyberpsychosis, our character automatically starts to attack everyone around them, even our own teammates during team missions. When we do have control of ourselves for a moment, everything starts to glitch out and a white light covers our screen and labels everyone with the yellow arrow marker, even civilians, so you won’t even know if you’re shooting a cop or a civilian. The neuroblockers can work, but i think it’d be better and more effective if the player continues to use it, it’s time effects get lessened, so from 44 minutes it becomes 34 and there down. So the players either have to dechrome, or continue to chrome up with the chance of going fully cyberpsychosis. It’d be a pain to code but worth it. I also like to think that there could be a V David like ending where V is on the brink of cyberpsychosis but he’s trying to save someone, and with the true Adam smasher mod installed, that could be V’s ending.

I think a good additional idea would be to have all NPCs around you appear as enemies and to have your health bar hidden from you. Seeing Edgerunners interpretation of cyberpsychosis was definitely the main inspiration for this idea. Being unable to see your health bar and not knowing where you’re taking damage from would make you choose to either run from the fight or attack civilians which would alert officers. Another negative passive would be civilian multipliers on each kill. Killing a civilian would instead get you two stars and more illegal activities would give 4 and then 5 stars. Due to people seeing you as a cyber psycho authorities and especially MaxTac would respond a lot quicker.

Bystanders randomly being tagged as hostile and appearing to attack you, or going full Akira (like in Edgerunners). Then throw in random uncontrolled attacks from V, guns firing without your input, random melee swings at passers-by. It'd be thematic as hell, add an extra dimension to character building and also create the possibility of some neat challenge run conditions.

Here’s how to do it. • You have 100 Humanity. Permanently eliminated Humanity points never come back. Your points can go negative. • Cybernetic Implants reduce your Humanity by some set value depending on how “inhuman” they make you. • Killing enemy hostiles temporarily reduces your Humanity by 1 each. After you leave combat, your Humanity tics back slowly. • Killing innocent bystanders permanently eliminates Humanity by 1 each. The method doesn’t matter. • At or below 40 Humanity, you occasionally see red fringes on screen and get a significant damage boost. • At 20 or lower Humanity, Cyberpsychosis starts setting in. Now, the red fringe is “permanent,” and occasionally red glitches will start taking over the screen. While the full screen is glitching, if you are near someone, your character may automatically attack them without any input from you. • At 0 Humanity, your screen goes blood red and constantly shivers with glitches. Your character operates all Cyberware at maximum capacity, and begins killing indiscriminately. Max Tac is constantly aware of your location and trying to kill you. You cannot stop your character from killing, only aim their destruction. • Immunosuppressants temporarily reduce the static Humanity cost of your installed Implants. • Neuroblockers suppress Cyberpsychosis effects, but every use of a Neuroblocker permanently eliminates a point of base Humanity. • Being social in-game during gigs - especially petting Nibbles or spending time with companions and doing their quest missions - will temporarily boost your Humanity by 5-20 points. This way, Cyberpsychosis is a double-edged sword because its early stages offer a tempting combat bonus, but making that buff easily attainable puts you in the danger zone for a downward spiral. It finally gives Cyberware the cumulative upkeep cost it should have always had, and gives players an immersive reason to be sociable. Now, you actually have to choose between being conscientious about how you play and playing as a Cyberpunk chasing a memorable death.

As Mike Pondsmith explained the Cyberpsychosis is a combination of over-cybering and PTS from killing/losing loved ones. This could mean if you use Non-Lethal weapons (Bats, Baton, Pax mod, Molots Gas, Street Brawler weapons) they should have lower Crit values BUT you are not ending lives left n right and not lowering your Humanity rating. Maybe even with a Gang reputation mechanic your not Maelstrom enemy #1 if you are leaving survivors. Crimes need a Red Dead Redemption 2 style bounty system where you incur a bounty and can go pay it off before you get Edgerunners and Police patrols and if identified pursuits. You will get hunted by mercs/edgerunners, then cops, then better solos, then max tac etc unless you pay off your bounty. If you paired this with a Humanity rating, Lower = Cyberpsycho chance event mechanic where V could get affected by cyberpsychosis unless expensively medicated or cyberware removed/ organics regrafted ... V could go NPC and control is out of your hands - start punching, stabbing, shooting (exemption for scripted in missions for devs sake). Would really ante up your stakes.

Imagine that after going cyberpsycho you see everyone as enemies. For example if you're on Tiger Claws territory, every npc would look like a tiger claw member and auto attack would be on when close to an npc. Now you'll have the penalization every time you attack a "fake" enemy.

Here are some ideas I've had when it comes to a Cyberpsychosis mod and things I think the creator should add someday. All NPCs always being hostile when Cyberpsychosis triggers. Not that the civilians are actually shooting you but you think they are. I feel like it would really add to the "you're going insane" aspect of Cyberpsychosis and since you gain stars when it comes to killing civilians it would also tie into Max Tech which are sent to kill you at 4 stars. I also thought maybe making it so that the game starts doing random inputs like moving in random directions, moving the camera in random directions, or just start firing at random would be interesting. It would really showcase you're no longer in control. Lastly, an idea I had on the subway was that since Cyberpsychosis is the cause of past trauma having maybe 1 of the NPCs models every once in a while be swapped with Jackie's could also add another layer to the mod. But those are just some ideas I've had brewing in my head.

I think something like this was probably intended from the beginning, hence the non-lethal play style options which currently have basically no effect whatsoever. One assumes there was a much deeper story & mechanics approach that had to be cut for time & budget.

Needs a RDR2 style bounty system to pair with the cyberpsychosis mechanic because it balances "risk vs reward" where you incur a bounty and can go pay it off. Police dont instantly pop up its a slow burn. You will get hunted by mercs/edgerunners, then cops, then better solos, then max tac etc unless you pay off your bounty. If you paired this with a Humanity rating - Cyberpsycho event mechanic where V could get affected by cyberpsychosis unless expensively medicated or cyberware removed/ organics regrafted ... While I know it wouldn't be at all helpful from a gameplay standpoint I would want my cyberpsychosis mod to have you glitch out for a little bit, keep control while in combat but ADD a few enemies that use the same models that your current enemies use (so if you are fighting Arasaka goons it's all Arasaka types) but THOSE added enemies do very, VERY little damage and go down in one-two hits. Once all proper enemies are down, maybe have a big audio-visual glitch (to hide what happens next) and move the player a bit somewhere else and drop a dead pedestrian around you for each "fake" enemy you killed. ...the point is blurring the line between who you PERCIEVE as enemy as opposed to who is ACTUALLY an enemy. It would also give you that chilling moment of realization that you just went full cyberpsycho. Add to that a 2-4 star police wanted level depending on the number of people you murdered. Now THAT would be cyberpsychosis.

The Cyberpsychosis effect could be that: -your HP starts decreasing (like when you burn); -all of the people around are "swapped" by enemies (in your imagination) that pursue you and threat to attack (or attack with 1hp damage); -healing meds stop activating, but you sometimes note the neuroblockers button is available from time to time. -killing "enemies" restores part of your hp. So either you keep your HP up by killing "enemies" or desperately try to make yourself use neuroblockers, or you gonna have a seizure and die. Would install such a mod 146%.

I think that the mod could be improved by portraying it closer to how the anime portrays it. cyberpsychosis is hard to implement in game bc it's essentially a state of game over where you lose control of V and gets killed by another merc or maxtac, it's dying with extra steps. I think the humanity feature is enough but it has to be woven to story events as well as gameplay. i.e: (spoilers) jack dies & you get betrayed by dex = lose humanity, attend ofrenda & talk to jack's people = gain humanity, you spare a cyberpsycho from regina's gig = gain humanity, you read/see a messed up piece of lore/message on a computer = lose humanity, go on that meditation quest = gain humanity this basically creates a gameplay loop where you lose humanity as you go thru the story so you do gigs that help people to gain back some, and as you do quests more endings gets unlocked which ties it all together neatly.

Good work modders! I hate not being able to invest in a PC to enjoy all these immersive mods. I remember developers talking about this implementation before 2018 I believe where the original intent was always to have cyber psychosis reflect how the mutagen system worked in Witcher three in a sense . Where if you took too many mutagens you would go full monster mode, so to speak, and it would start having a negative affect on you and your health. So, cyber psychosis would be much the same and that if you went too much into Cyberware, you would lose humanity and it would have a negative affect on your health and other aspects. Anyway , very cool

Honestly, I would made health going down, or get a meter which will kill you after some time if you didnt commit murder, block fast travel during cyberpsychosis, that way you would have to not only look for people to kill like cyberpsycho, but police would show up and started blasting you. the meter should go shorter and shorter after time of deeper cyberpsychosis. Aaand neuroblockers idea is fine xD

This is super cool.. though I do think it only works as a novelty, if this were something u had to deal with throughout the whoe game it would just kind of get annoying after a while, or you’d just never allow ur humanity go down to 0 cuz who wants this to happen to them more than once.. but this is how I feel about most things in games that add nothin but immersion.. immersion is nice, but by itself it really doesn’t provide much to the experience, it needs to be coupled with actual gameplay mechanics to work best

Thats the point, it a much needed nerf to late game. You have to keep in mind the amount of chrome youre packing, its not for everyone but to me its golden, makes the game difficult and strategic, and also adds alot to immersion. The fact that you have to keep in mind how and when to use your cyberware is a great addition to gameplay, how is it only for immersion exactly? It adds a lot to gameplay in a meaningful way.
