From 1977.... two decades after I was born - 1957 - and two years after graduating high school, my second year in the Airforce. My Dad had a four door 57 Chebby when I was a little kid.

The wheels in this kit are American Racing Toruqethrust wheels then you had Craiger ss and keystone mags

I always like the Cragar wheels, especially the 5 spoke one you found. The Revell ‘68 Dart kit has a very nice set of Cragar’s in it. Iceman Collections has nice ones for sale as well. Congratulations on having over 560 videos out now. That is quite an accomplishment, and shows your dedication to the hobby. Thanks for sharing.

Those wheels in this kit are American Racing Daisy 200's. One of my all time favorite custom wheel. I had several sets on my cars through the years, My friends and I called these wheels "Coke Bottle" mags as the spokes are shaped sort of like old glass Coke bottles.

The wheels everyone wanted in the 70's were Cragar SS and Aluminum slotted mags. I never did see those wheels in that kit back in the 70's?

Ah, I remember this kit when I bought it brand new in 1978 and built it in gloss black with a blown big block motor in it. I used sewing thread as spark plug wires. High tech stuff back then.

As a kid growing up in the 70’s I remember some of these Monogram kits you unbox including this one. Even thought I only built military stuff back then I spent a lot of time in the model isle at SS Kresge. Mid 70’s these were about $4.50 a kit. Now I feel like I missed out on a lot of cool car kits but like anything else modeling is a journey. Looking forward to seeing you build this one up.

Ha ha, someone beat me to it, the wheels are American Racing 200S wheels, like a fat spoked Cragar wheel. I built that very kit when I was a kid and even though it was molded in red, I painted it Cherry Red and I remember painting all the trim silver. I didn't put the snorkel hood scoop on it because I just didn't like those scoops, I always preferred the "Mopar" style hood scoop. Man that one brings back memories for sure!!! Lovin it!!! 👍👍👍

Yeah, I remember the No Paint days.... Even if kits were molded in white, I still just built them. Around my early teens I started painting. Very few Testors spray colors were available back them. I remember my local place only had about 7 or 8 colors. I remember using alot of flat blacks and maroon's...

Memories… I got a later edition of this kit when I was a kid. I didn’t paint mine. I left it in the red plastic on the body. Silver brush paint on the trim and let it ride…I loved it. Nice video Matthew, and thanks for the mentioning. You`re right, I just love those old Monogram kits, the "striped boxes kits". Actually I`m not far from finishing that exact same kit. On my build I did not use the flames, it has a different theme to it. But I do have one or two more of that kit, and for sure one of them will be built pure 70`ties style. Snorkel scoop and everything... The Cragar SS wheels are my top spot wheels. I`m one of those guys who just loves them. But the Keystone Classics are a close runner up 😁 560 videos... WOW 😳 Thats wild...

Cragars. Keystones were a 5-star as well, but had black accents. Those are something else, the name of which I can't remember.

Cool kit Matt!!! I like the tri-five Chevies. Can't eait yo see this one built. I have a built up Monogram 57 Nomad. When i was a kid my dad had a 55 two door with the stovebolt six cylinder back in the sixties. Guys would pull up to him at red lights and ask him if he wanted to sell it. He finally sold it in running condition for fifty bucks. Wish i was older i would have wanted it. Thanks for sharing.

Hey, Matthew i have a great video idea. I do believe that this Monogram 57 chevy shares the same parts as the Monogram 56 chevy 1/24th scale. I would do the comparison video myself, but i don't have the Monogram 57 chevy. I only have the Monogram 56 chevy. The one from Ollie's 👍😎

Those wheels are American racing had the same mags on my 67 ss Chevelle backing the late70s built that kit in early 80a one of the nicest 57 kits out thear simple but comes out good have fun with it matt😊

Maaaan, I've built soooo many of these kits. The injection pin marks were terrible, but still a good kit. I do like the newer version with separate door cards & loose seats. Not to mention the newer chassis is much better also.

Those aren't Cragars, they look almost like a generic daisy style. They are a generic custom wheel. Monogram really never seemed to use name brand wheels that often.
