There's so much about this song to say. 1 chorus, a very simple set of lyrics throughout a 5 minute song tells a literal lifelong story. The beginning starts high pitched and energetic, halfway through it tones down and slows a little bit, and by the end the tone is dark and deep and the track slowed to a crawl. Representative of a life cycle, getting older... by the tone of the voice and the well placed lyrics, it is a person who has been through rough times. Worked very hard in life and is getting tired. At the start of the song, she has a pitch very high and feminine, like she is alive and full of spirit, however at the end of the song, her pitch is so deep she is almost unrecognisable, its as if the woman became old and ancient - she is near death. However the key thing is the last thing she says is "Yhwh". It almost sounds like Yahweh, another name for God. The other evidence is that she "folds her hands to pray" and refers to "the one unchanged", some unknown being who is infinite and immortal, strongly pointing to a higher being of some sort. her hands "grow old" and weary of pain, the key message indicating she is in a state of decay. She doesn't want to die, she is praying that she will not die. Even the music box at 3:13 sounds as if it failing and faltering, but somehow, manages to find its strength again at 3:29. Its as if the woman is the same as the music box - she is losing her strength but is trying her hardest to stay alive. But there is nothing she can do. no matter what she does, no matter how many times she pleads and prays to the "one unchanged", to Yahweh, it does not stop the slow but powerful force of ageing.
