My grandfather is 78 and still roofs with my father & I. He started his business in the 80s. Passed it to my dad in 2016 and still can’t quit.(not because he’s broke) just because he is addicted to working. Coming to an old age, it’s better to keep moving than to stop. I have seen this first hand with my RG. He still carries bundles up the ladder & will outwork any new guy on site. Arlo is a legend, a dying breed. These men will be missed on our sites forever. ❤

Put a spring loaded flapper valve on the outside of the crawl space pipe, similar to what is on a tractor's smokestack to keep water out when it is not running. With a soft enough spring, it will stay closed, but will open if there is water pressure.

When I have to paint up next to glass, I use a product called "Masking Liquid H2O". You paint it onto the glass, no need to mask off the frame, because if it gets on the frame, the paint will go right over it. Let it dry, paint and then when done, take a razor knife and cut around the window. Masking peels right off. leaving a nice clean edge.

A lesson learned, two actually, if you run a dehumidifier in a unoccupied part of the house run a smoke alarm that’s connected to the occupied part. My dad hadn’t done that and almost lost his house after working on it for more than 20 years. Lesson 2 is to never play a hero, smoke is toxic and even if he only went 10 feet straight in a basement he almost lost he’s way going out….
