AMAZING! WOOL PROCESSING FACTORY #1 - (Know The SHEEP SHEARING). Sheep shearing is the process by which the woollen fleece of a sheep is cut off. The person who removes the sheep's wool is called a shearer.

True, but sometimes if the sheep hasn't been sheered in a long time, the wool will pull the skin up and make it uneven and easy to nick.

Have you ever tried to hold a sheep? It's like wrestling a 100 pound toddler that kicks and bites. The sheep are not easy to catch and harder to deal with. So they shear them as fast as they can to put less stress on the sheep. If you can find an easier way the world would be grateful.

Since it was a living fiber, why it encased in a plastic bag? As a quiltmaker, I was taught to not store cotton or wool products in plastic, bags or bins. Placing them in a pillowcase or between flat sheets is best next to acid-free paper. Lotsa hard work by these plant workers faced with respiratory issues & caution.

Lanolin is also a product from the wool being washed. Lanolin is the sheep’s skin oils. Often in these big operations the sheep is sheared so fast it’s cut and bleeding. Long ago a sheep farmer could only sheer 4 a day and his wife or hired help wash the wool and squeeze the wool through a fine screen or cloth to save the lanolin. I have done all these steps. Have also done sheep butchering and wool rug hide tanning sheepskins.
