This table is really well designed. Every piece is clearly labeled, kzfaq.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW and the instructions are perfectly displayed, so it's really hard to mess up the assembly. The hardware is likewise clearly labeled. If I had a power driver, assembly time would have been cut in half, but I didn't mind the light workout. My only qualm is that is that the lift top is wobbly in between its open and closed positions, but that's really a minor complaint. For the price, you really can't get much better than this, hence the five-star review. I use it primarily for my wireless mouse and keyboard so that I can use my PC from the couch. Storage is nice. I'm totally happy with this purchase.

Sure, simply equip your already adequate workshop with a thickness planer, a bandsaw, and an oscillating orbital sander and you're good to go. (Space and money no object, naturally.)
@antiiviirus5 жыл бұрын
@Rob Petrie I see you use a lack of expensive equipment as an excuse. You're not limited to those exact tools he used as I can see several alternative electrical and even hand tools that can work as a replacement. He has what makes his DIY less time consuming and more efficient. You can do exactly the same with more affordable tools and more elbow grease. Oh, and a better attitude.

As an Aussie I imagined this with an ice tray, of sorts, in the middle for those hot, unbearable heatwave days. The tray would need drainage holes and be big enough to supply all those never ending mates who would be wanting to come around to help you enjoy your new table. 😉

Love the early American stain on pine. I️ always make sure I️ have some of it in the garage. Might be crazy, but I️ actually like the look of it on pine better without the pre-stain conditioner. Especially if you’re going for a rustic type of look. I️ think the blotchiness gives it a more aged look. That table looks great with the conditioner though, so you might be changing my mind on that one...

Hey mike, all wood has a natural curve, known as the crown. When combining boards you want to make sure the crown or curve of all the boards are the same way. Usually the crown goes up in the middle so you don't get a negative bow in the middle of the table. Planning helps but over time the natural expansion and contraction of the wood will warp the table top slightly. Just another tip to help your get to next level production! Have a great one!!!
@ModernBuilds6 жыл бұрын

Hi Mike. Good looking and simple to build table, but I am concerned about wood movement. You screwed the top directly into the stretchers without elongating the holes. I think this may present a problem later on.
@slayerhawk19726 жыл бұрын
I would agree Johhny.....Long term the table top would shift causing bad joints, etc.

Not to mention using construction grade lumber sitting at 15-20% moisture content. Chance of failure at 30 - 50% . . .

Loved this when you 1st posted and built a coffee table sized proto. Had built a few dining tables for clients but there was a lot of back and forth movement lengthwise. Did urs come out rock solid? I ended up having to apologize and go back and add V shaped stretchers connecting the bottom stretcher to the top. Thankfully the clients were gracious and tipped🙏
