Great information about laying out and cutting the tile. Question on why the tile overhangs the drain pan on the right side and why it doesn't cover part of the drain pan on the left side (as viewed by watchers on KZfaq)? Did the tile order/direction get mixed up after cutting/dry fitting them ... or the drain location not end up being correct? Did you have to cut off any extra tile along your cut marks in order to have the proper space between the tiles for grout lines? I'm asking so that I can understand any problems that might arise if I attempt to pre-cut all of my tiles for such a location.

Are there any issues with slipping on a large format floor like that? Do you have to pick a textured non-slip large format tile? I'm just a layman but i thought the reason smaller tiles were used on floors were so the grout lines would provide traction? Really like your videos FYI!

@R2Mike
@R2Mike 5 жыл бұрын
The systems do not level your floor. They are a tile lippage system basically. If the floor is sloped, it stays sloped but without one side of the tile being higher then the other
@ricks341
@ricks341 5 жыл бұрын
@@R2Mike No the system doesn't "level" the floor, but it certainly creates an even plain. There is no way that floor has 1/4" slope per ft anymore! That system should NEVER be used in a shower pan
@BlahBlahManYeah
@BlahBlahManYeah 5 жыл бұрын
That is correct, it brings all tiles at the same plane, especially if leveling system with wide paws and wedges is used as on this video example. My guess, to retain bending ability along cuts that form sloped envelop, different type of leveling system will be more appropriate. Landberg tile actually had video where he demonstrated reusable TLS, and that would be better fit in here, to give flex in cut lines, while leveling lips.
@BlahBlahManYeah
@BlahBlahManYeah 5 жыл бұрын
Installation order probably should not be linear, but plane by plane and TLS is used within each triangle plane, but not on their catheti.

The pan is pre sloped 1/4 inch per foot. Using the method he used (drain corner to pan corner) with a pre fabricated pan will yield you the standard 1/4 per ft. This isn't as easy of a task on a poured pan/mud bed. Simply because we're not perfect. But completely doable if you get your pan right. 👍

Leveling systems should be renamed. They are anti lippage systems. We isntall this way frequently for shower pans and all of our pans have at least 1/4 per foot for pitch and slope. You can see it better here at the 10 minute mark: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qbCSpauWmJuXe5s.html
@dlewisa
@dlewisa 4 жыл бұрын
This doesn't make any sense. Why use tile levers on a shower pan that's supposed to be sloped? You have it cut into four sections. Those sections should have been leveled with themselves, not each other. It seems you've made a flat shower pan.
@LandbergTileTV
@LandbergTileTV 4 жыл бұрын
It may seem that way, but we install this type of shower pan on a regular basis. This is a anti lippage system, not leveling system. Here is a video on one of my projects installing the same tile for the shower pan: part 1: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a8xjia2AtZm1iac.html part 2: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLRmaaalntWXeqc.html
@ricks341

Nice look but not good for a shower pan. That system creates an even plain. There is no way you've got a 1/4" slope per ft now!
@MostlyPeacefulCombatVet
@MostlyPeacefulCombatVet 5 жыл бұрын
Yes it does indeed. It's being done by all of us who do this work for a living, and becoming the most popular new "standard" on a prefab tray. This method absolutely gives 1/4" per ft slope. I believe Landberg tile even showed that in one of his videos using that method
@ricks341
@ricks341 5 жыл бұрын
@@MostlyPeacefulCombatVet I do this for a living as well, 24 years as matter of fact, although I only began using these systems a year ago. I'm always willing to learn something new, that's why I watch these videos, but from my experience with these systems I can't see any way possible for them to allow a slope. Allowing slope in multiple directions would allow lipage. The purpose of these systems is to create a flat plane. The pre-slope is irrelevant, the system will pull the tiles away from the pre-slope to create a flat plane every time. Cutting tiles diagonally is irrelevant as well as the system creates a flat plane regardless of the type of cut.
