Nanoverb is a reverb unit that allows you to tune the sound to simulate some ambience. Such as room effects and chorus. You should not be using such device for DAC purpose. If it has a good DAC onboard, you can try. But the performance will be not great. This device has a dynamic range that is roughly 90db. So not even CD quality.

Most people including me may fail blind tests. However music is much more than blind tests. For songs you listen regularly, you can hear the differences in various passages.

@@ashinddevanand Most 24 Bit and 32 Bit songs you are getting are actually 16 Bit mastering. So there is no more details available. Even if we make a 64 bit unicorn. And yes it’s not placebo. On a good system, you can hear the difference between MP3 and Hires. Make sure your speaker is airy enough to bring out the details beyond audible range. We all say we can’t hear above 20K. But when you listen well mastered content on a speaker with good super tweeter, you will change your opinion. You will feel it. All depends on mastering / recording quality. Unfortunately file format will not tell us about the mastering quality.

We can improve quality with external DAC in general. But this depends on two things. 1. How good is the inbuilt audio on the MB. For example some Asus ROG main boards have ESS DAC chip and decent analog stage. 2. How good is the external DAC we are busting. How much budget we have for it. For example my DAC costs more than my ROG min board itself!. Usually it’s hard to include an excellent audio solution on board due to budget constraints and Interference issues.

There is format called super audio cd for this. Very rare. You will need an SACD player and SACDs for this. Second option is to use virtual up mixing technology like Dolby prologic.

@@ashinddevanand Here is my personal suggestion for you: Don’t chase surround sound in speakers. Instead get high quality stereo setup. You will be blown away one day. “ Headphones are not stereo” That sounded weird right ? Yes headphones won’t let our brain process space the way speakers do. So headphones can’t compete with high quality speakers in my book. Listen to some failed in Hi-Fi setup and see the difference. Enjoy this beautiful journey Ashind.

Evaluate the quality of the amp and speakers. If they are of high enough quality, then only buy the DAC.

Watch my Hires audio related video. We are covering a lot of ground there. Generally, there could be a lot of things. Starting from your Hi res files, the DAC, amp section, or your earphones. First thing you can do is, try to audition high end gear with high end source somewhere for free. Then try to isolate your needs.

Depending on current on pard sound. For example some Asus main boards already have good quality audio (example Maximus series) Even then there can be improvement with a dedicated card.

Maybe you should listen to the conclusion once again. All I am sating is choose the DAC based on how good your speaker is. If your speaker is higher end spend proportionally more on DAC. If your speaker is a basic pair, no point buying a super expensive DAC. This should be easy to understand. I can’t recommend you any specific DAC because: 1. I do t know what speaker and amplifier you are running, what source you are busing what budget you have. These things are different for each individual.

Depends on which DAC your blue ray player has. If that is better, no point. Secondly look at your home theatre amp specs too.

I did not listen to this amp. but I will recommend to keep using the inbuilt DAC for now considering you are using S20. Also I won't recommend using Bluetooth for music as most bluetooth codecs including AptX HD and LDAC is lossy. You can use inbuilt streaming capability such as Roon to get a higher quality lossless sound.

@@anooppsivan007 They are not bad at all. Considering they are essentially budget speakers. Also not the prettiest. But will do the job well for the money. If you are in Europe, you can access a lot of nice used speakers for that money though.

Oh. Sorry to hear that. I really don’t know anyone I can recommend in Trivandrum. Have you checked the owners and service manual to see what they are saying under diagnostics ?

They use ESS9016 with dual Chrystal clock. It is slightly older but good chip. Rest depends on implementation. I will expect it to be pretty decent.

This will totally depend on what you will watch / listen on the TV. If you stream music on it, I will totally recommend a dedicated DAC. Take a look at drop.com preBox S2 digital is also a good option. Blue sound node 3 maybe able to work as a DAC also (not sure) in that case you can have a streamer that can also act as a DAC. New Mojo is a nice option but not a dedicated dektop DAC
