honest question about the "no spin" throw. would it be no longer throwing a knife if it was weighted? a screw driver with a light handle and thick or long driver tend to be REALLY easy to throw. it doesnt rotate. and essentially throws like a knife. youd think ice picks would throw the same way but not really. anyways. ive never needed to guide with my finger. i just use stuff with a weighted tip. or is the average screw driver being a throwing dart just too much info for the internet to have?

@@williamturner6192 it sounded like he was putting on the “I’m gonna write you up” angle, but he was definitely serious in saying that was a dumb idea despite wearing open-toed shoes whilst handing sharp objects that can ricochet. Fencing masks are pretty tough... they are made to withstand A LOT OF force. A broken blade can kill you and the mask is there to prevent that. A FIE approved fencing mask can take up to 1600N, so it's pretty impressive that they can puncture it with a knife throw.

I loved doing this growing up. Started with screwdrivers, went up to hangers, and eventually did nails and needles. Always loved one upping some guy throwing knives. And yes, it ended up being a great real world skill years later... (facepalm) cleaning up the back room of an apparel store when someone broke a ton of hangers. It was literally faster to throw all the broken hangers than to carry them to the trash bin. The boss came in saw me and the roomie throwing them, and offered to 'catch' them to help. We both kind of looked at one another, turned back to him and said definitively "no." He didn't understand why... so I buried a hanger a foot and a half deep in a pile of cardboard and asked him to leave. LOVE throwing spikes and needles.

after looking at the footage again and again... murphy is throwing scaredly because brian is in the way... brian has the advantage of not having nothing on the left where he is putting he balance after the throw... so he can give it a little more umph ... but murphy has the hand of brian at the beggining... and then he cant balance himself after the throw because brian is still there so he dont know if the hand of brian will return or do what. so he is throwing with less force and half the swing...

I did this with my dad in the garage a few times. At first i tried throwing knives with the spins and flips, and while looking cool, nothing beat getting a solid step forward and letting the knife carry itself deep into the target. Nothing more satisfying then having trouble pulling the knife out after a nice solid 'thunk' Besides, most of the times i tried doing the flips and spins they bounced off or missed. While the no spin is really really great at low ranges. Very consistent. I'd say more consistent then the spins. Way less math, way more power, way more fun.

I recently took up no spin knife throwing and it took me like 3 days before I could get one to stick somewhat consistently. Going off of just KZfaq tutorials and a dead tree, and those exact knives they start with. They're like 20 bucks on Amazon for the 3, great for starting. I think the main thing that gave me grief was my hand wanted to tilt so my finger wouldn't follow the spine of the knife as it came out of my hand, so it would come out and like twirl diagonally.

Jason catching the knife reminded me of a fire juggler, who asked me to throw him a torch and when I screwed it up, he threw it back, saying "again please". I caught it and delivered a clean throw. It took him like 10 seconds to realize, he just trew a burning torch towards a 12 year old boy, expecting him to catch it. He went pale as snow apologizing profusely but it was all fine and I felt like a bada** for the rest of the day.

Seeing those construction nails, so a little back story, I used to work on a golf course doing grounds keeping, and there was a random turf spike in our work cart, and the guy I was working with, was walking down the hill, he's like 200 feet away, I grab the turf spike and throw it like a throwing knife, and yelled "NAILED IT" thinking this thing would land next to him. It didn't. It did how ever go point first into the back of his head. I said about 1000 apologies and felt like poop about it, but, it's kind of funny now

Brian is completely safe in flip flops because he just never gets injured no matter how terrible the idea. Jason is wearing steel toes because he's learned.
