Here is a relatively educated dive into a spark plug DIY on a modified 2013 xDrive 35i F25 Chassis. I'm not saying it's all right. I'm not saying it's all wrong... BUT it's at least a start for anyone who is looking to do some plugs on their own vedickle.
These spark plugs are 2 steps colder from the newer 340 (SILZKBR9F8S) vehicles. I can't remember if that's the number off the top of my brain, but when I find it (or someone kindly posts it up), I 'll be sure to update the description accordingly! Plug gap is 0.018" per tuner. Stock gap is 0.028" according to Google University.

Thanks for the helpful video! We have two BMW's in our family... a 750i and a X3 35i. It seems that BMW deliberately makes working on these cars as difficult as possible to drive everyone back to the dealer to have service done. And at their labor incredible labor rate, most of us avoid the stealership as much as possible. Our next vehicle purchases will NOT be BMW's.

No problem! Unfortunately, over engineering causes a lot of unneeded frustration with these and many other cars as well. Nothing lasts forever, but they could at least make maintenance a little easier, right?

thanks for this. ill be doing sparks this weekend, any tips on valve cover removal? will be doing that too due to VCG leak

I haven't done the Valve Cover Gasket on this particular engine, but as with most things on here it's probably more pulling stuff out of the way. to remove the cover. I think there is a bulletin about replacing the bolts when you do the cover as well. Not sure if the case here is that the bolts are aluminum, but it's a good cheap practice to do it while you're there.

way more complicated than our mazda 3 2010 lol. we have x3 35i as well. will reference back to this video in the future if we attempt it

Did you installed that dual twin exhaust pipes? I have the same year and model as you x3 Beamer, the exhaust tips don’t come in stock like yours.

Yes, the muffler with the dual tips and the trim panel were installed separately. From what I remember, the muffler was discontinued. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe that the dual exhaust body panel may have been an OEM part.

How did you changed the spark plugs on the back? There are 2 that are almost impossible to access!

It's just a balancing act on what you have for socket extensions and universal joints for them. I have a pretty good selection of extensions and a good universal joint, but I don't remember my exact combination.

I wonder where you got your twin dual tail pipe exhaust, normally this model which I have one m-package does not come with it.

This was definitely an aftermarket piece, but I don't recall who manufactured it at all. I do remember that this was around 1500 new and you still had to purchase the rear exhaust panels (maybe even the bumper as well) to install this unit. It sounded good when it was on there, though! I can ask the previous owner and see if he remembers the manufacturer, if you're interested.

Thanks for this! Just about to undertake on my exact same year and engine. You mentioned the hose can crack, would you recommend having a replacement on hand? If so any idea on the exact part name?

No problem, thanks for checking this out! What I was referring to is a "hose" for the CCV (Crank Case Ventilation" system. This is a piece of corrugated plastic that will most likely start to fracture as you move parts around to get them out. My recommendation is to either get the proper OEM part from BMW or get a piece of Oil resistant 3/4" hose to replace the plastic section. I don't know the part numbers for that piece, but at the very least have a section of 3/4" hose available to patch that up if you need to!

So sorry for the late reply! We've been on vacation and there's always a lot going on these days. I can't remember off the top of my head, but the this was a staggered wheel setup where the front and rear were different widths. The tire sizes are long gone from my memory though since this wasn't my vehicle, but a friends that I helped get looking good. I think the Wheel sizes were 8.5" front and 10.5" rear.

Thank you! The Bumper is a stock sport bumper, however the center diffuser and dual muffler were purchase second hand so I am not sure. From what I gathered, they're imports from across the pond: x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658927
