Thanks for that perfect video. I clipped the white and green wires, and now it works perfectly. My new car has five USB-C ports, and one of them is located at the top of the windshield to the right of the rear-view mirror. Therefore, I have no need for a cable hanging down and getting in the way when I shift. Your solution was a godsend. Thanks a million!

Sort of works with my Garmin 2595 GPS. It goes into the computer mode at first for about 30 sec and then changes over to the power mode. Garmin products detect something's plugged into USB port and then asks if you want Mass Storage etc. To make the modification really work I wonder if you have to also remove the two data pins at the plug end?

Would this help to prevent interference. My dab drops out when I plug my dash cam in. Some people say use USB cable as its shielded?

they make "power only" wires. i have a dash cam that runs on usb, in the instructions it says for data use your own data wire. the factory wire that comes with some dashcams are power only. the reason no camera view pops up is the cable. and while your technique works it would be easier to just find a power only wire

great vid! so what cable i need to cut if i want the other way around? like using it just as webcam and i dont like it asks each time it asks what i wanna do as storage or pc?
@eriksrensen63694 жыл бұрын
Silly question.....the other way around? I don't think you know what you are asking.. It's like bla bla bla....rubbish. If you wanna use it as webcam you just cut the wire like in the video. That's the point of the video .-How stupid and ignorant are you?

Although I’m sure this works, I was able to find a random micro usb cable that was power only. I think it came with a cheap usb lamp or something. So I would suggest checking around before cutting into a cable because it works just fine for me.

I have the same issue but interestingly Mass Storage Mode (thinking its connected to a PC) just started happening in a camera and car that have been the same for 4 years - nothing changed as far as I know - weird - maybe something had a software update but no ideal which or how...
@eriksrensen63694 жыл бұрын
no no it's not software related....

I tried connecting the black to black and red to red wires from 2 cutted usb cables intended for a LED strip light, still doesn't light though. Any thoughts as to why?

Shoot this is old but I will give you my opinion to you so every who has this problem can read it. The case maybe wire are mixing keep them apart or it could be they aren’t making proper connection. Recommendation make sure all wires are separate and you might need to solder the wires.

Just get a power only USB cable. 3 meter ones in any USB fitting costs like $8
