6:00 If you don't use the generator feature and not connect the battery data, remember to disable "generator mode" in the microprocessor settings or it will run full throttle all the time

Using an prebuilt engine would be a good platform for a build challenge. "Who can built the fastest car with this engine." Just make sure that the goal is benchmark that can be objectively measured by one person lol. The tank challenge seemed like to much to handle for one person.

Nice video, thanks! How good is modular engine compared to a standard medium engine in terms of: 1: Power per volume (size) 2: Power per weight 3: Fuel consumption

Medium vanilla is good but a fuel burner. So always go modular if you can.

Loved the video @ProfNCognito! Can't wait for the next video man! I wonder how you'd make a Turboshaft Engine, like what's on the Eurocopter Tiger, or a Marine Diesel Engine like the ones in the Various Transport Ships that I've typed the Specs for in the Comments section below Numerous videos in the past.

Hi, i’m new to storm works and i’m wondering how to power propellers with the engine. I understand how everything works but I don’t know how to power my propellers with it. If you could help, that would be great.

I made a modular 6 cylinder engine and put it in a plane and it keeps overheating even with the eletric radiatior. Do you know how to solve this?

Not sure if its because I put it in an enclosed space, but it wont start even though I followed it as well as I could I did connect the exhaust and air intakes to the outside and the gearboxes are all on 1:1 and 1:1 though so i dont know why it wont start

Because I've never played, but trying to learn about it before I buy, can you explain why you make a big deal over, for example, the extra crankshaft block? Is that a problem at all? Like, it changes engine performance or something to have more crank? Or is it just a case of people just don't usually build like that and it's a bit weird? I don't understand why a longer crankshaft is notable. edit also does adding extra accessories like water pumps and such reduce final engine power like in real life? edit again what the _frick_ do catalytic converters do in the game??
@Lord_Bison
@Lord_Bison Жыл бұрын
Adding an extra crank block like Prof did, does nothing to the engine except open up some building possibilities pending on your build style. I too have done this on builds when placing components. Made life much easier. Also opens up a spot for the Modular engine temp sensor, without sacrificing a cylinder location, if you don't want to use the composite logic node for temperature readings. Anything that uses RPS input from an engine RPS output WILL affect how much power goes to places. I've been told it's an even split between all devices being powered. As far as modular belt driven clutch devices, they will be taken into account as a device that requires a driving force. What this split is, I'm not sure. How much the power is reduced, I'm not sure, but i believe it's marginal. Personally, I only use Starters on my modular engines as belt driven devices. Catalytic converters in the game reduce the amount of exhaust plumage coming out from the engine. If you have too many, it WILL choke out the engine as it does affect the flow rate. It WILL cause a "No start" if the cat is reversed on installation. This is a great game. Highly recommended if you like creating things and making them go. I'm a newer player myself and I've loved every minute of my 1000+ hours in this game. 😎

@@UnitSe7en The physics of Stormworks is interesting, I've made my fair share of mistakes while building and discovering what works and doesn't work. Creative/Custom mode allows for all testing and building purposes without fear of going broke or running out of fuel early in the game. Happened to me on my first Classic Career game. The building of vehicles is pretty much limited to your imagination, but ultra huge builds will bog down the beefiest of PC's. I Tend to stay with medium to large builds personally. My current project is a Quad Jet Engine VTOL, using fluid pivots and thrust vectoring to hover and then fly with ailerons, rudders & elevators in plane mode. Right now all it does is fly erratically in the air. I think I have too many wing sections providing too much lift for the weight of the plane. It's a process, but when it works the way you want it too, it's a satisfying feeling. I have many hours ahead of me on this project.

The crankshafts add some resistance, they are like baby flywheels, so putting more will reduce the engine performance on the generator, but it's better for vehicles since it adds more inertia, thus preventing the engine from stalling especially when more load is put on it (changing gears for example)
