This episode of my abandoned building renovation shows tile installation in a huge shower & bathroom. Thanks again to Noom! Click noom.com/modustrialmaker to take your free Noom Evaluation.
For the renovation of my master bathroom in the (formerly) abandoned building, I used a variety of tile sizes, including 12x24 large format porcelain tile, 24x24 large format porcelain tile, and a granite mosaic tile. This video shows how to do entire tile installation process for this massive bathroom. The bathroom includes a massive curbless walk-in shower, and a fresstanding tub.
NOTE: We used granite mosaic tiles on the shower floor, and I forgot to mention that I will be sealing these tiles - a must for granite in a shower!

Hey, next time when grouting, use the back of a drill bit to give a little convex score. It makes it way more professional looking than the simple sponge method. Also you could use wider grout lines, which have their charm as well ...

I’d love to see a wood feature with horizontal slats that extend to the ceiling over the tub and down to the concrete inlet wall that wraps around the whole thing to give the bath a spa vibe! Just picture looking up at all that natural color while taking a bath! You’d probably have to use something treated or for wet use like teak but I think it would really pop in that bathroom.

My first thought would have been the wood-slat feature wall, but if the vanity and closet are going to be wood, it could be a wood overload on that side of the room. I think I would use the smaller black tiles behind the tub to tie the room together and it would really make the white tub stand out almost as an art piece.

I'd go with the Wood slat feature wall, since the rest of the room is already pretty grey and cold. More black would imo really kill the room. It just gets too cold and emotionless. Wood would really give the place a more luxurious touch and give the in my opinion needed warmth to the bathroom
@kinskifilms
@kinskifilms 2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, my two cents: I feel like the feature wall should be wood, or at least have wood integrated into it in some way. Your bathroom is beautiful, but if every surface is tiled it will feel very cold/harsh regardless of color. Bathrooms should have an element of coziness, and I think wood does a great job of this.

not being a "nay-sayer" just giving 2 cents... I manufacture waterproof membranes for showers. when patching the holes after you removed your guide board you should do your best to patch with the membrane material. throw some mortar if you need filing, wait for it to dry, then put the waterproof membrane on top. silicone is a bond breaker and the water-based mortar will not bond well to those areas. though small, it could cause a problem if the are becomes saturated frequently.
@scottmooney8598
@scottmooney8598 2 жыл бұрын
Agree - the whole point of the membrane is one solid layer of waterpoofing, to seal the wall. To have holes, even if filled with different material, defeats the purpose. Also, the circular drain on the floor seemed to be on top of the waterproofing. I'd have concerns about water egress between the drain and the waterproofing.

Looks great! Also, when you cut a inside corner on a piece of tile you no need to bust out the angle grinder to clean that corner up. Like you did for the corners around your shower niche. You can lift the tile up and use the side of the blade on the saw. Works well and just saves a little step. Some pieces might be to long, but usually not. I did corner shelves in the past as well. I made a slot for the shelf in the wall tiles. cut a square piece corner to corner like a sandwich. Then use motor ton join them pretty side out and stuck them in the slot. Then cut a piece for the front. I used an outside edge for the top. Most can be made from off cuts and it does look slick. I put on down low, middle, and top. Wife liked the low one for shaving her legs. No premade stuff needed and you have a spot for shampoo and soaps. Just make sure to use a level and slightly angle shelf down to shed water.
