Learn how to use basic shape-key animation to make a hydraulic press animation in Blender 2.83. I would recommend that you have at least a basic understanding of Blender to follow along, but that being said, it is a pretty easy tutorial. What a wonderful tutorial, not only is it a great intro to basic animation, but I learned little shortcuts and tricks that I had no idea about before. Blender is so huge and complex, it's impossible to watch a singular tutorial and be able to get even close to everything, so I'm glad you showed off such a variety of small but useful skills with this.

Hey "Pixxo" thanks for another great tutorial. Love the way nothing is to specific & exact, except when it has to be ie scaling. In some tutorials if you're not using a 20 node setup to produce a snow flake you're not doing it right ! Don't change your style of teaching, you're showing people how things work & from there they can adapt it to there own projects. Stay cool, cheers

Thanks, a bit too fast for me to follow because a lot of your key/mouse short cuts don't appear to work for me, for example brush size using the mouse wheel.

Yes, it's is possible. You can do it with soft body physics. I was just keeping it simple. Perhaps in the future I can do a soft body breakdown.

for the texture, a PBR image he imported. For the "Metalness", and the material, he tweaked the material settings. You can go to render view, and in the properties panel, there is a red planet sphere. You'll find the bars you can tweak to make it have more metalness. For a image texture, download it from a website like CC0.

Really nice ! tho you should have done the last shape key a bit earlier, to the point when the press releases the ball. It looks a bit off when the press is going up again :)

In your preferences you can click emulate numpad. I think it is under interface...

When I watched the final result I thought you did it with physics. I am a little disappointed when I discovered you did it by modifying the shape of the ball, It looks like a fake animation for me.

@Huang Kyle I think you miss understanded me, I am not talking about the reality of the ball material, I meant the the reality of physics in the whole scene, it looks like physics included in the animation but in fact there is no physics at all.
