Every lecture about Mohrs Circle I've ever sat through has been gibberish to me, thanks for breaking it down for me.

Excellent video! you explain things in a way that is easy to understand. 10 minutes of watching one of your videos is equivalent to many hours spent hunched over a text book! Zac Loughborough, UK

I'm glad the video was useful. I'm trying to use mostly SI units in the examples since hardly anyone outside the US uses the traditional English units.

Does this imply that when we have external compressive forces only, that there will always exist shear forces in some direction (45 degrees rotated from our original set of axes).??

Where did you get that Sigma=500 psi from? Or you just calculated the center of the circle that's all? And when do we draw Mohr's TRI circle? Thank you!
@JesusVerdugoSanz
@JesusVerdugoSanz 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Chlyeh, I´m Spanish teacher learning technical english, and how you say sigma=500 is the center of the circle.
@mahmoudsaad3735
@mahmoudsaad3735 10 жыл бұрын
he just got the average between 2 sigma values by adding both values then dividing by 2 sigma average =(sigma1+sigma2)/2 ,which in this case will be =[(3000+(-2000)]/2=500 psi

Why is it that the relationship between the angles for mohr's circle and the stress element are different by a constant factor of 1/2? It's easy enough to memorize, but I just don't understand the underlying reason behind it.
