*SPOILERS* If Rey and Kylo teamed up to become the antagonists in Episode 9 the story would have actually been interesting. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot in this movie. Hate to be an armchair director but they really could have done some cool shit with the story but they kept back peddling so that everything fit the basic "heroes vs villians" archetype.

I disliked the part where Rose decided to "save" Finn. Then she goes all sentimental and returns a quote finn told her earlier, then fucking smooches the dude. I was like WHAT ARE YOU DOING

Everyone's shitting on the casino scene, but I saw the movie as much better- I fell asleep for that entire part.

I personally feel Leia getting sucked into space is a perfect and shoking death for her character. No idea why they didn't do that.

It's like, it would be so easy to explain why the Admiral didn't tell Po the plan. She could've just said that they suspected a mole was amongst them and the reason they could be tracked through hyperspace. She didn't even have to tell Po that, she chould've said it to someone else just so the audience could know her decisionmaking process.

I can’t agree with all of the points made but i have to agree on Snoke. They offered zero information about him, not even the slightest foreshadow or hint as to who or what he was. it’s like they failed to acknowledge that we have no idea who he is, like they thought we just already knew.

If Admiral Holdo knew she was going to die with that ship, why didn't she pull the fucking trigger sooner, why did she wait for shit to hit the fan?

One thing I really am weird out by is the fact the Leia is still alive, how on earth are they going to use her in the next movie with Carry Fisher dead and all? It can only mean that they are going to cgi her in the next movie and kill her off extremely quick. Oh boy... Also, what the fuck was with Luke's death? Killing himself by using a force projection? Thats the worst way to kill off the very first major star wars character. If they were going to kill him off, why didn't they make him go to the rebels and actually die to Kylo Ren? Lastly, I think we can all agree that the rebel cruiser crashing into snoke's ship at light speed was one of the greatest scenes in cinema in the last decade.

I wish we could have learned more about snoke instead of having SO MUCH detail about that subplot. The subplot couldve been they went to the casino met the guy he betrayed them. 10 mins tops. Then 35 mins of snoke and First Order backstory

Rogue one was 500x better than this movie. Dumb jokes breaking the atmosphere all the time, a lot of useless characters, a lot of scenes that don't make sense, a lot of story that lends to nothing! I would give it 30%

I'll have 2 number 9's, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, 2 number 45's, one with cheese, and a large soda.

All this movie did was solidify the fact that Poe and all the other side characters are completely useless and the whole thing should just focus on Rey and Kylo Ren instead. Any scene where it's Rey or Kylo worked fine, but I was about ready to overdose on Nyquil every time Finn and Rose were on screen.

SPOILERS What they could've done with the Leia in space scene instead. >Actually kill her off, since Carrie has no way of possibly being in the next movie >Let the portion of the ship she was in be blown off from the rest of it. That way she still has air. If you really wanted to make her seem powerful, you could have had her use the force to reconnect the ship, saving her and her crewmates, and THEN let her go unconscious. Not let her be space Mary Poppins. >Remove the scene entirely.

As a Star Wars fan, this movie is the worst thing I have ever seen. Luke was what on, the lead male characters from the previous movie were what on, hyperspace and the force were shat on, Snoke and the first order in general went from being sorta threatening to complete non threats

Is it just me or is the strong point lately of a LOT of games and movies that come from big name companies are the visuals? like I feel that the big companies are at a point where they nail the visuals cause that's something they can just throw money at but everything else about their products is disappointing, be it story or directing, you know the things that take actual thought, time and talent.

As a run of the mill Star Wars fan that just likes space fights and woooom I thought this was ok. Laughed at half the scenes in this film that were supposed to be serious but there was some fun stuff. Snoke made me sad because I was REALLY looking forward to this new Dark Overlord character that opened a new web of Sith stuff or...I don't know ANYTHING really and I think it was enormous potential wasted. I don't regret seeing it and I'll probably see the sequel but I'm not really that excited for it.

First i'd like to say I'm a massive (emphasis) Star Wars fan. And all criticism below is simply because I love it’s universe and i’m deeply worried by what direction disney has taken with the latest trilogy. I went in with pretty high hopes, I know it's dangerous to give in to the hype but from what was teased in the trailer and the speculation that was going around, the movie and it's potential story direction was incredibly enticing. Finally we'd get to know more about who snoke was, how strong he is, what his motives are. We'd see Kylo's training continued. Now finally freed from his past as ben kenobi. We'd see rey seeking training/guidance from luke, hoping to bring him back into the fold. Seeing them explore the force in it's entirety (not just the dogmatic narrowminded view of the jedi or the sith) (did you get that reference ? good.) Deepening the mythos of the star wars universe and the force. They were about to blow our minds with this one, clearing the mediocre stain that TFA left on the franchise. But then they didn't. At all. A big joke (literally) It feels like I was constantly being teased and duped, resulting in me being constantly unsatisfied or feeling cheated by the writing or the plot. "Ha-ha you thought snoke was going to be vital to the trilogy? Gotcha there didn't I ?!" “You thought Leia died in an explosion that resulted in her being blow into the dark abyss that is space, making kylo lose the only string that still connected him to Ben Solo. Are you dumb ? She’s not dead you fool, she’s just gonna wake up from her unconcious popsicle state and float back towards the ship without any major injuries besides needing a nap.” “A legendary Jedi facing the first order armada and his former apprentice in the hopes of stalling them enough time to escape, resulting in a lightsaber stand off that would finally show us the force and lightsaber mastery that luke has amassed over the past decades. No silly me, it’s just a force hologram, who wanted to see luke holding back an army and make his final stand anyway amirite?” (just a few listed) It would be better if they just listed it as a comedy. They set up so many things, only to do nothing with it. We don’t know who Snoke was, why was he so strong with the dark side, where did he learn all this, who taught him, how did he manipulate Kylo Ren. Why didn’t Luke stop Snoke in the past. They set up the end of the Jedi as we know them, the balance, the force in it’s entirety. Then they just sort of change their mind? Luke: “Ehh maybe the jedi shouldn’t end, i won’t be the last one after all, you will be the last one rey.” Wait what? Journal of the whills ? grey jedi ? Nope. Captain Phasma? Captain who ? Exactly. Rey’s training progression ? ( and kylo’s ) She can lift half a mountain of rocks without breaking a sweat though, don’t ask questions. What’s under the island, the darkness that pulled at her. The mirror scene. (had no relevant impact at all , please point out if i missed it.) They did nothing with it. Alot didn't make much sense. Leia not dying , sorry can't get over superman leia. How did Po not know about the transporters being loaded, literally everyone was working on that, yet he never knew? *Po orchestrates a coup and his secret plan almost got the entire resistance killed, yet high command treats it like boyish mischief. Not even a spanking. Rey can goe toe to toe with kylo even when he's no longer unbalanced and even gets the upper hand at the end. (kylo wakes up unconcious, rey has already fled the scene.) Rey being incredibly powerful without any explanation Snoke being so powerful can't sense kylo's intention of killing him. * *None of the guards were nice and observant enough to point out the moving lightsaber next to snoke? Why did Kylo kill his fellow students, where are the ones that went with him? Leia is totally fine with hearing that luke tried to murder her son, basically creating kylo ren, resulting in the loss of Han. Hyperreal force projections are a thing apparently Half of the movie could felt like filler, i'm looking at you casino planet side mission, and feels like it was a waste of precious screen time. Yes the movie had good bits, but they are by far overshadowed by the bad I find it very hard to muster any excitement for the next installment after being so dissapointed by a movie that had, in my opinion, a huge amount of potential that ended up unexplored.

Rogue One was better. Pacing/scene changes were a bit off place at times, but some of the scenes towards the end were good. Left on a very open ended/confusing note leaving us with wtf are they going to do next? I would have at least liked if the writers left us with a bit of a hint of that.

I like the whole thing with leia flying through space. I know it seems dumb, but it reminds us that the force isn't a thing that you have an amount of, or something with a specific set of abilities. It reminds us that the force is something more than just physical.

The one thing I'm pissed about is that they killed Snoke like it was fucking nothing. All of that hype building and theories and he just... dies???

Of all the plot shitting in this film the whole Buddhist energy style philosophy to the force obliterated the midiclorians shit from the prequels and I think that's a welcome change.

I liked the part where Luke Skywalker did the hologram force move to distract Kylo and then he died anyway that was really satisfying and cool.

Normally there are a few things that I won't entirely agree with Charlie on in a Moist Meter, but holy shit you literally made every point I did coming out of the theatre! I was actually a bit pickier about a particular scene but for the most part I've never felt more in line with one of these episodes. Great review!

My favorite scene was when Rey took Kylo's light saber and told him "I've never seen such a.... long saber before"

So much CGI. I wonder how it will age. I rewatched the original trilogy on VHS and it has actually held up pretty well.
